Spectacular nose of fresh abundant hops after pour. So much so I was looking around my basement to see if I had missed a rack or two from the harvest this year. Slate black with some light at edges of glass. If you close your eyes and ignore the color of the brew the IPAness comes out in vibrant form. Centralized choco-caramel ephemeralness. Moderate body with a quick finish. Even and enjoyable but not outstanding in its field.

Cask @ old toad.its dark...almost black...off-white solid head. Hoppy nose but hard to detect anything specific. Flavors are roasted malt and hops...what a surprise for the awesome style of black ipa. Nothing different here folks...as usual. Black ipas are the hardest to rate as they all taste the same...and I drink this across the table from a ratebeerian named blackipa....fuck.my.life.

Bomber. Pours opaque ruby brown black, thin off white head. Aroma is hoppy, smoky, malty. Flavor is smoke, pine, anise, hops, roasted nuts; all well blended. Nice, dry, bitter finish.

On tap at the Ale House in Vestal NY Pours a surprisingly clear dark brown with ruby highlights when held to light. Creamy off white head shows moderate retention. Smells of pine and cirtus with hints of chocolate and coffee. Not quite porter like in the nose but the roast is definitely there. Pine and resinous taste mixed with a hint of chocolate and roasted grains. Medium body and carbonation level with a resiuos creamy mouthfeel. I really liked this one. Great Black IPA that almost ordered another one to my table.

Bomber from Half Time. Pours very black with a slight creamy white/beige head. Roasted dark malt with evergreen aspects for aroma. Med+ body. Flavor is smooth dark roast malt with a good dose of fruit/resin hop. Id say grapefruit above pine, but this is a mixed flavor situation and Im having trouble separating components. And why try. Its nicely bitter, full of malt flavor, and incredibly delicious.

This poured a darker brown color with a beige head. Aroma was a nice blend of roasted malt and dank hops. Flavor was also very well balanced, one of my favorite black ipas, nice bright herbal hops with a roasted background. Good stuff.

Moderate robust malt aroma. Very dark amber color with a medium tan head. Initially sharp sweet turning quickly to a light bitterness that last until the end. Lightly creamy palate in the finish.

Bottle purchased at the Village Beer Merchant in Buffalo. Pours a pitch black opaque colour with an off white head that recedes to a thin layer, minor spots of lacing. Aroma is hoppy, almost smells like dope. Tastes is quite bitter, sweet. Really nice mouthfeel, a little numbing. Awesome.
