3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at Hamilton Collegeís Little Pub. Dark brown pour with a smallish tan head. Aroma holds nice piney and grassy hop, along with a touch of caramel and cinnamon. Flavor is pretty tasty, but unfortunately the roasty malt character doesnít quite mesh with the bitter hops. As a result, the flavor is hoppy and fairly tasty, but the flavor is non-distinct. Close, and a good try, but this keeps it from being a solid black IPA.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very dark with very faint orange highlights. Decent tan head, nice retention. Chocolaty + pine nose. A unique combination that was very aromatic and I thought worked well. Hefty full taste in palate, coffee and roasted notes in palate. This is really good.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 oz. bottle. Pours a clear deep reddish brown that is barely translucent with a thin-moderate off-white head that lasted through three-quarters of the glass and left a layer of foam with each sip. Pleasant aroma of pine with a few notes of malt picked up as well. The flavor is mild malt followed by some mild-moderate hops bitterness that for the most part lacked flavor. Nothing bold about this beer. Medium bodied.

Pour super dark ruby dark ruby garnet nice tan head. Aroma of roast, chocolate, malt sweetness, citrus hops, pine and a touch floral. Taste quite roasty, strange off taste, citrus hop, partially watery. thin to medium body mild carb. Overall kind of watery with roastiness not the best balance.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black pour. The aroma is lightly fruity with a bit of cocoa. Musky but with some juicy fruit as well. A little bit of soft chewy hops and a bit of light cocoa. Malts are soft and a little bit of cocoa as well. Fruity and quite tasty. Quite soft and not all that bitter.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Three Heads Skunk Black IPA is a very dim brown-- almost black. Itís topped with a big, frothy cappuccino head that has supreme retention and lacing. It has a loud pine and grapefruit aroma, perhaps a touch of roast or ash. Itís medium-full bodied, soft and slick. The dry finish leaves me a little thirsty. It has a very cascadian flavor: pine and grapefruit peel. Thereís a touch of roast at the finish. Itís on the bitter side, but I like that. Coffee is in the aftertaste. This is really good representation of the style. Itís fun to drink.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Roasted malts, chocolate cookies. Dusting of hazelnut. Woody hops come in afterward. Not a perfect match, but intriguing.
Tall crown of light brown lace. Thick red-brown. Head settles but doesnít disappear.
Flavor is plums at first, then burnt malts. Very roasted, but with a little oaky hop at the end. Very strong, with a chocolatey finish. The hops are a nice accent.
Palate is chalky with an ashy finish. Itís hoppy, chalky and very burnt. Complex and well-crafted.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
pours black with a thin off white head and some lacing. hoppy aroma with dark malt character of molasses. taste is bitter but with notes more akin to a porter. the taste is not as fruity as other black IPAís. very dry overall and more a of a hopped up porter than a black IPA.
