On cask @ beer authority. Pours thick and creamy with a huge cappuccino colored head. Very dark. The aroma is strange. Filled with hops and some sweetness but Parmesan cheese? Wtf? Anyway on tha palate it’s nicely balanced but uninteresting. Pretty decent.

Excellent Black IPA! THe color is so dark but the taste is so rich. Nice and hoppy. Can clearly taste the crisp dark hops on this one.

Draft at Khyber Pass. Poured a very dark clear ruby with a frothy tan head. Lace. Hoppy and dark but does not strike me as a Black IPA. More a hoppy malt blend with medium red fruit and some charred notes. Plums. Pomegranate. Burnt toast. Hops mostly seem to bring a spicy bite to the mix but not much else. As a Black IPA it sucks, but as thirst quenching beer it works.

obguthr (3234) - Poquoson, Virginia, USA - APR 6, 2013
Slightly meaty aroma of dark roasted malt, candied ham, and elderberries, a little rancid. Clear cola colored, medium tan head, good retention and lacing. Elderberries on the front end. DMS asserts itself in a most unpleasant way at midpalate. Boiled carrots. Finishes with charcoal and pine. It isn’t light struck as the name suggests, but it is certainly flawed.

Bottle shared by beerpig317. Pours brown with a medium sized bine beige head. The aroma has roasted malts, light smoke, general green hops, earthy. The flavor has earthy and herbal hops, the malts are not as prominent as they were in the nose. Light roasted malt and mild to moderate bitterness. This is very average.

Dark but slightly translucent with a light tan head. Roasty malt mixed with char and hops with a light bitterness. Punchy and full. A decent black IPA.

Bottle shared with Sean. Pours a deep brown with fluffy beige head and lacing. Notes of roasted, chocolate, pine, coffee. Medium mouthfeel, sweet with a little hop and roasted malt bitterness. Tasted more like a hoppy porter than an IPA but a pretty solid beer none the less.
