Voraciously hoppy and not overly bitter. The Kind brings enormous aroma and maximum flavor. Itís like taking a walk through a pine forest and ending up at a citrus farm. This beer brings joy to the world, one sip at a time.

22 oz bottle pours a cloudy honey color with persistent white head and good lacing. Aroma is full of piney and citrus hops with biscuits and a hint of almonds. Body is medium with average carbonation. Taste is slightly sweet at first, with a long dry finish (with a bit of metallic taste at the end, which is the only negative). A very good IPA Iím glad to have tried

A good pale color with a good piney and citrus aroma with hits of grassy aromas. a medium body with a mix of light sweet and bitterness. The finish is clean and dry with a piney taste as well as a bit of bread and a tiny bit of tin.

Whole Foods, Vienna 22oz ($6): Pours a light amber color with a thick and creamy head. Aroma is fine: pine and citrus hops. Something is off in the taste though. I feel as though this is not exactly the best balanced IPA out there. It seems almost watery. The hops are there, but they have nothing to really hold on to. Basically, there is not enough body and not enough balance even though the flavours themselves are ok.

Golden pour, perfect head. Nice medium hoppy flavour with a smooth finish. A little bitter at the end but overall a good not great IPA.

From a 1 pt, 6 oz bomber, poured into a dimple mug. The honey-colored pour was topped with a persistent off-white head. The aroma is coniferous and piney with a touch of sweet malt. The nicely balanced liquor featured a sweet, floral hop attack with perhaps a hint of biscuit in the background. The finish was lingering and nicely bitter without being overwhelmingly so. A nicely done, solid IPA. Bought at the Village Beer Merchant in Buffalo, NY (I tried to add this but RateBeerís availability tool is malfunctioning).

On tap @ Tap and Mallet - Best IPA of all the local Rochester area beers we sampled. Hazy gold pour with small to medium white firm head. Big fresh hop aromas, lots of citrus peel and thick floral characteristics. Aggressive fresh hop flavor with good bitterness to balance the piney grapefruit flavors. Would definitely look for this one when in the Rochester ares.

Serving: Draft. Heavy gold pour. Herbal hop nose. Hop heavy but it has balance. Floral with light citrus. Lighter in body. Really nice brew.

Bottle: Poured an amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrus and piney notes is quite dominant with some semi-sweet caramel malt notes also distinguishable. Taste is also a balanced mix between some citrus and piney notes with some residual sugar and caramelized malt also noticeable. Body is quite full with good carbonation. More floral hoppy notes would have helped provided further enjoyment of this beer.

Hoppy but not over hoppy. Nothing seems to jump out to me to make this a distinct beverage. Dont get me wrong this brew is better than average but Iíve tasted pine & citra notes many times before in an IPA. Overall it isnt great. The worse part is that The Kind is not so kind to my palate. Many India Pale Ales arent forgiving to ones palate so I wont let that ruin my overall judgement here. Lastly I am not a big fan of citra hops and Im fairly sure they are in The Kind. In the end each to his or her own.

Draft at NOVA BrewFest. Poured a nice clear orange color with a small, but solid white head. Aroma was nice citrus, with a touch biscuit malt in there - sweetness to it that was quite pleasant. Pine notes for sure. Flavor was nice pine, with bitterness, well balanced with sweet malts. Pretty darn refreshing.
