3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JAN 21, 2005 Jan 2004: On tap. Bright, opaque pale yellow. Light maltiness in the aroma, bit of caramel and pungent herbs. Flavor lightly smoky, herbal, good malt background; gets quite bitter at the end and doesn’t quite hold up as it thins out and becomes a bit watery. Still, a not-bad example of a style I’m liking more all the time. Weird for them to bring it back on a -10 degree day though. 5/3/6/2/11 2.7
Jan 2005: wow, what a difference no smoking makes! The fruity-grassy nose develops beautifully this time, hugely full and malty with touches of light caramel and peach...the body is fairly dry, herbal, with a light hoppy character that dominates near the finish, some pepperiness...still could use more body, but this is vastly better than a year ago.
