Toasty, nutty, malty flavors, make this brown beer easy to drink.

Presentation: Growler (brought to me by my girfrien). Pours an amber/copper color with no real visible co2 presence. Retains a tan head for a short while with some sticky lace (no long term retention). Aroma is malty with some roasted notes coming through; no hop representation. Palate has some co2 (more than expected), but for the most part is quite watery, with a slow-on-the-up-take-type biting finish. Flavor has a lightly sweet and innocuous start and a dry finish. Finish remains and builds with the second swilling. Not a lot of character, but drinkable. Kind of a generic nut brown, with some good traditional characteristics.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown with a thick white head. Aroma of bready malt and nuttiness. Flavor of sweet malt, some earthy/nutty notes, perhaps some hazelnut. Also an odd minerally quality with harsh bitterness and odd vegetal notes. Started off ok, then got a little strange. I think something is wrong with the water here. 6/4/6/3/11 [3.0/5]

On tap @ Three Rivers poured a clear brown with a minimal amber head. Aromas of sweet malt, nuts and a hint of cocoa. Palate was medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of sweet malt, nuts and a hint of cocoa with a sweet finish.

Deep chestnut body. Flavor is nutty and sweet. I donít like browns, so maybe Iím not being fair.

Pours an almost identical color to the amber ale but without the head. Again, no hops present in the aroma, just crystal malts and maybe some oats.(?) Very mellow with a bit too much CO2. Needs more hops to balance the it out. Way too light for the style. Need to raise the mash temp. and add some Chocolate malt as well as some Cara-pils or honey malt. A crowd pleaser in the same vain as Pete's Wicked but somewhat oxidized and nothing to hoot about.
