White Hops is a nod to Georgia’s forgotten brewing history, taking its name from a mysterious and controversial Atlanta malt beverage sold in 1898. No one knows what the original tasted like, so we used and our imaginations and a Belgian yeast strain to concoct a white IPA, brewed with wheat malt, Citra hops, spices and grapefruit peel. Aromatic and intense, this ale is for hop enthusiasts looking to surpass the ordinary.

Draft. Nose is a citrus bomb with strong lemon dominating. Slightly tropical. Pour is a very hazy light yellow with large white head. Taste is a very pleasant marriage of citrus and floral notes. A medium mouthfeel but dries out nicely. Hop additions are very well done and don’t dominate but live in balance with the yeast character a fruits. I quite enjoy this.

Have probably had this about 10 times but now getting around to rating it. Cloudy yellow to dark orange color. Nice belgian yeast aromas and flavors with lots of banana working. Fruity tropical aroma. Would put this more towards a belgian IPA than a whit but whatever. Finish is bitter and grassy. Nice for what it is and pretty sessionable.

Still has lost a bit of the hops, on tap at the rookery Macon GA, solid flavor though not dominated by either the hops or the wit characteristics little thin looking but tastes just fine.

Draught at 3 Taverns. Nice white IPA with a tasty yeast thing going on throughout. Some witbier spices mixed in.

This is an ok IPA. Not really my liking too much due to the blend of a white malt with the hops. Needs to be be hoppier.

Bottle. Pours hazy pale straw with a fizzy white head; virtually no lacing. Aroma is lemony hops along with some light banana and spice (clove?). Taste is bitter, but not overly so, with the lemon, banana and clove hitting the taste buds. The finish is pleasantly dry and bitter with lingering grapefruit and spice. The body is medium with a nice fizz. Overall, a very nice local Atlanta brew.

Bottle from Village Wine and Spirits in Athens. Big Citra nose with orange/lemon blossoms. Very pale straw, fluffy white head, clumpy lace. Citra hops certainly dominate the initial / very light spicing in mid with pleasant fruitiness (peaches with grapefruit rind) / smooth, light finish with a lingering hop note. Thin body. Tasty stuff. I’d never heard of this brewery. Picked up bottle in the single section of Village W & S. Glad I did. I know they call it an IPA, but it really is much closer to a Wit or a Wheat Ale.

Decatur, Ga - Raging Burrito - on tap. Hazy light gold pour, snow white head, slight lacing. Citrusy aroma with some light spruce notes. Crisp citrus flavor, some lemon notes, a touch of coriander, cake mix and a minty finish, Mouthfeel is nice and creamy. Good accompaniment to my blackened Talipia burrito.

Bottle from Lazy Dog. Pours a hazy gold with a slight layer of cream head. Aroma of hops with slightly grassy hints. Taste slightly sweet with a lingering hoppiness.

This beer is very different and distinct, pours fizzy yellow with a white head, smells very fruity along with some citrus. Taste is a bit sweet at first then goes onto a slight hoppyness, not too much, great balance in the beer.
