Bottle from Chase Street Mkt. Pours out a very murky brownish-amber with a thin white head. Aroma of sweet burnt rubber. Flavor is bitter and rubbery, with some sweet smoke. Bit too much of a mess.

Bottle from the Durham Marketplace (and from notes -- Sept 2015). I bought it for the name and the pun, both of which I enjoyed. The beer itself was pretty underwhelming. Muddled and malty, with some bitterness but no hop flavor or aroma.

Note: 7/10

Bottle from Brewtopia. Hazy copper with lasting big bubble head and lace. Looks like a good homebrew. Nice fresh orangey hope aroma with just a hint of toffee or butterscotch (diacetyl) typical of NorthEast IPAs. Mild tropical fruit melon and toffee butterscotch sweetness with citrus rind bitterness that lingering. Fairly full bodied and chewy but too much. Very good. I think a lot of previous ratings maybe didn’t get it fresh.

Pours a cloudy dark gold with clingy, thin white head. Great lacing. Aroma of pine and citrus are mild, but present. Nose has a nice bready malt as well. Beginning of the sip is a nice big explosion of resin pine, never too harsh mid-sip, suddenly balanced by a nice malt backbone with a hint of sweetness in the smooth finish. Really enjoyable. I’ve also only got about 50 pages left in the also enjoyable namesake novel right now, so not coincidental i picked this up.

From the 16.9 fl. oz. bottle. The pour is medium amber with a modest off-white head and a cloudy appearance. The aroma is quite pungent and powerful with its floral and perfumed hops. Also a nice noted of roasted malts buried beneath the hopped up sensations. Medium body. The taste is extraordinarily bitter with floral hops coating every inch of my tongue and inner mouth. You like hops? You got ’em.

Bottle. Rating #7,100. Thanks to Jcwattsrugger for the bottle. Pours orange gold with white head. Nose/taste of grass, seaweed, toast, florals, dank orange peel, caramel malt and earthy old citrus. Medium body.

Half liter bottle courtesy of jcwattsrugger. Thanks! Pours a hazy burnished bronze color with a medium sized dense creamy tan head. Good head retention. Citrus and tropical notes are wafting over from the glass a few feet away. Further aroma notes are toffee and a bit of resin. The taste is toffee malts with a bitter citrus and pine hop finish. A little bi-polar as the sweetness lingers a bit before the bitterness kicks in. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness.

Pours a cream, three-finger head that fades very slowly leaving a good lace. Murky amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Hoppy clove nose, flavor some grapefruit hops with hints of caramel. Lingering bitterness. Pricey at $7.75 for a 500ml bottle from Bert’s Better Beers Hooksett NH. Bottled 1/4/2014.
