From the 650 ml. bottle. 2014 batch. It pours a very heady dark mahogany-amber color. I’m not sure why my bottle was so carbonated but the head took up three-quarters of the glass. The aroma was fine array of nuttiness, sweet malts, a dark fruit, and a a nice hint of smoke that did not overwhelm. The body is medium. The taste is also fairly sweet, malty, and nutty with those smoky grain malts playing in the mix. Well-balanced and tasty.

22 oz. bottle. Pours almost black with an angry, frothy beige head which eventually recedes leaving bits & pieces of lace. First thought on the aroma is campfire & my leather work gloves. Flavor is a little more complex. Still get plenty of smoke, but there’s a semi sweetness that reminds one of caramel and brown sugar. There’s also a hint of bacon and ham. Interesting mix. Body is full with aggressive carbonation. I’m not a big fan of the smoked style, but I did enjoy this one.

22 oz. bottle purchased at Top Shelf Brews. Nice looking brew. Dark brown the huge fluffy tan head that left massive retention. Aroma is caramel, roasted nuts and light smoke. Taste is sweet with the roasted nuttiness coming through in the middle with just a hint of campfire in the finish. Hints of chocolate malt. The roasted nut flavor is deep. Roasted grain backbone. Very smooth and easy to drink. The brewer really should brew this again next year. Much, much better than the standard Dippty Brown. A very nice drinkable brew.

Bottle from Bert’s Pours a solid dark brown with a decent sized very creamy tan head that sticks on to for a good long time. The aroma is heavy on the caramel and chocolate with hints of dark fruit. There is a bit of smoke in the nose, but it is very subtle. The flavor is light in the bacon heavy in the fruity flavor with lots of caramel brown sugar and chocolate. Medium body with a creamy silky mouthfeel and a moderate level of carbonation. Oddly for a double smoked double brown ale this one is not very smokey. That being said, I often find that smoked beer tends to be over the top with phenols whereas this beer uses the smoke to add a bit of character to a really nice brown ale.

Thanks to Beerandblues2 for this. Poured a dark, black color with a small brown head. Aroma was roasted malts. Flavor was roasted, touch of dark chocolate.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a medium, frothy tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is smoked caramel malt, dates, and earthy hops. Flavor is malt dominant with light smoke, dates, light hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Medium to full body, medium carbonation.

A roastier, slightly sweeter Dippity. Smoke is mild and comes out in the finish slightly dry and bitter.

Nice smoked brown ale, nice balance between taste and smokiness. Unfortunately this is a seasonal beer...
