COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Maple-Kissed Wheat Porter is a medium-bodied porter that tastes amazingly smooth and velvety. The rich and creamy mouthfeel is a result of the wheat used in the brewing process. Local maple syrup gives this beer just a hint of palate-pleasing sweetness as well as a nice depth of flavor. We call this beer “maple-kissed” because we use just the right balance of maple syrup to impart a delicious flavor without the beer becoming sweet.

Bottle opened on the bus at RBWG. Pours a brown-amber color with a tan head. Notes of caramel, maple, brown sugar, toast, dried fruit, and cardboard. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a dry mouthfeel. Straightforward, but also a little old-seeming.

Leighton (9838) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 16, 2014
Bottle shared on the bus during RBWG 2014 - Asheville. Quite mediocre, although I suspect this beer has an infection setting in (not too surprising since the only other beer I’ve had from this brewery was also infected). Pours light, hazy brown with a foamy head. Some earthy bitterness present, mild tangy semi-dark malts, leaves, bread. Light bodied with average carbonation. Bland finish, some leafy bitterness and dry bread. Meh.

Bottle - Sweet smoke and maple. Cloudy brown with a brown head. Sweet roast grains and a touch of maple. This wasn’t as bad as it sounds.

alexsdad06 (4531) - Ohio, USA - FEB 11, 2014
22 oz bottle on the 2014 RBWG bus Lazoom. Pours a clear dark amber brown with a medium sized khaki head. The aroma and flavor had some roasted malt, a decent shot of maple sweetness, a lighter wheat character and some earthy notes as well. Lighter body for a porter. Nice way to ease my way into the day.

italarican (1425) - Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA - FEB 9, 2014
Bottle shared on the RBWG bus tour (LaZoom!). Thin, light brown pour. Not much porter in the nose: mainly wheat and coriander cereal-type notes. More of a wheat ale: slightest hint of coffee flavor if you’re looking for it. Thin, crisp body.

Bottle on the 2014 RBWG bus. Pours a clear deep amber brown with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a combination of maple and dark grains with a touch of wheat. Flavor is similar with a smooth dark grain and maple note with a bit of earthiness.

Bottle at home. Pours clear black with a small, frothy beige head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is roast and leather dark malt, faint maple, dates and plums, earthy hops. Flavor is dark malt and lightly tart dried fruits, light hops and bitterness with light maple notes and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.
