Orange gold pour with creamy white head and lace. Aroma of resiny hops and caramel malt. Resiny hops, bready, and caramel malt flavor. Smooth bodied with good carbonation. A pretty well balanced beer.

(Draught) Pours a dark brown body with a medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts, chocolate, caramel, and citrus. Flavor of roasted malt, citrus, herbs, nuts, light pine, grain, and chocolate with a moderately bitter finish.

On tap at the brewery. Brown in color with a small beige head. Aroma is of roast, light chocolate and hops. Taste is of roasted malts with a hint of grassy hops.

GABF 2010. Pours a slight hazed deep brown and ok lasting beige head. Aroma is nutty chocolate, tootsie roll, green grassy hops, some pine needle citrus and orange peel. Flavor is more citrus, grapefruit, nutty ashy chocolate malt with nutty earthy yeast clashes with the hops just a bit, more citrus, pine and resin in the end- crackery dry finish gets slightly astringent.

Tasted on 12/18/10 on draft st 1702. Pours a clear but almost black amber with a smooth off-white head that leaves creamy lace. The nose isn’t giving me very much, with the light aroma of darkly roasted malt and some citrus and resin hops. The flavor is an even blend of roasted malt and hops, but once again, neither are very intense. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long roasted and bitter finish.

I was skeptical but this is a fantastic black ipa. They refer to it more as a porter ipa but whatever.aroma is nut with mild citrus and hop. Taste is balanced porter malt with hops and some mild molases. Finish is nutty and sweet with some mild bitter. Excellent!

On tap at the AZ strong beer fest. Hazy dark pour with a small foamy head. Citrus hoppy and sweet honey malt in the aroma. Nice malty flavor with a good bitter hoppy bite. Pretty good stuff.

On tap at the 2010 AZ Strong Beer Festival. Pours a cloudy brown with a light tan head. The nose is cocoa, roasted malt and hops. The taste is follows suit with the aroma. Medium bodied. Decent.
