Winner of the BRONZE award in the Imperial Stout Category at the 2000 World Beer Cup International Beer Competition. Russian Imperial Stouts were originally brewed for export to the Royal Court of Russia where they were enjoyed by Catherine the Great. Ours has a rich intense maltiness with black currant, toffee and dark roasted malt flavors. The higher alcohol content is sure to warm you up from the inside out.

Growler thanks to hellbilly. Had this after Dark Lord, and have to say that it is actually better and deserving of its title as AZ’s best beer. Pours black with a nice brown head. Smells and tastes of balanced flavors of roasted coffee, vanilla, and dark cocoa with a note citrusy hops at the back of the palate. Disguises the alcohol content so well you could actually session this. Time in a barrel would make this ridiculous.

Growler. Pours nearly black as night with a very firm dark khaki head. Nice. Aroma or roasted chocolate malt, a touch of espresso, bittersweet chocolate. Some leather and earthy hops. Light notes of anise and charred wood as well. Flavor is quite nice. Well roasted malt, chocolate, char. Slightly bitter hops. i like this one because the malt is perfectly roasted... not bringing out the astringent and bitter overly roasted malt. Medium to full bodied with a slightly bitter malt finish. A very well done Imperial. Thanks Craig!

Pours an incredibly thick viscous black with wonderful cocoa head. Awesome aroma of some alcohol and big roasted/chocolate malt. For being so viscous the palate is a nice medium body. Flavor is not overbearing but upfront. Roasty and well balanced. A little alcohol on the finish, but not overly done. Great beer, glad it is a local.

Bottle 64cl.
Black color with a virtually none appearance, virtually none lancing, fully diminishing, light brown to beige head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, licorice. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long to average duration, and a dry dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. (300508)

Growler, courtesy of Papsoe
Dark brown color. It has the character of a watewred down Danish coffee, with light phenolic aroma, a lot of caramel flavor and sweetness. Pleasant.

Courtesy of Papsoe, growler. It’s brown/black and the aroma has notes of roasted malt and licorice. The flavour has notes of roasted malt, light hints of smoke, licorice, a light bitterness and hints of alcohol. It’s very harmonic and nice and the body is very full!

(Growler 64 cl) Courtesy of FlacoAlto. Pours black and opaque with a small, light brown head. Sweet aroma of burned malt and vanilla. Very rich and solid body with sweetish burned malt and lots of licorice. Some malt astringency in the finish. A pleasant and well balanced imperial stout. 190408
