Cask @ JDW, Victoria Station. The pour’s brown with a medium white head. The nose is shoe polish, some wood, nutty malts and brown sugar. The taste is dusted nut, some yeast, red fruit and carmel-coated twig. A hint of spice rack. Light body, soft carbonation. Pretty meh.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol, November 2012. Reddish amber with a slight, off-white head. Sweet, caramel and bready malts with a hint of cinnamon and moderately bitter finish. Ok.

Wetherspoons Victoria 2 Nov 12. JDW festivaløl. Mørk amber. Filmskum hvor en del fester seg til glasset. Beskjeden aroma. Litt frukt. Lite kullsyre. Smaken mandler. Vel søt.

Festival ale poured from cask at JDWs Victoria Station. Clear dark brown coloured body. Shiny surface. Poor lacing. Spiced fruity malts to the nose. Marmalade and caramel malts in flavour. Dry in the mouth. Easy to drink and carries some enjoyment (London, 02.11.2012).

That Spoons under the library, Brum, 10/11/12. Spliff-like, old carpet, volcanic mud, tinned aroma. Deep aniseed and eucalyptus hints; caramel dabs, really good oily brazil-nut like flavours. Copper bronze lacing finely. Hint of berry/plum sweetness. MOR but with good malt flavours. Not bad.

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Amber to brown with cream head. Smooth malty, reasonably dry, a hint of smokiness and quite full. Plenty of mouthfeel and a decent enough beer. One of the better beers in the festival.

Hand-pulled pint in my local Wetherspoons (Wellington, Shropshire) on 2 Nov 2012: during the Beer Festival. Good healthy looking, warm reddy, brown ale with a thick foaming head, creamy in texture and colour: the head gave some heavy lacing as the beer sank. Fruity, malty (toffee) notes in the nose and taste with a dry finish but not overly bitter in that dryness. Tasting notes mentioned spice: I couldn’t find any evidence of spices in my pint, but I did enjoy it.
