Refreshing amber ale, brewed with four hop varieties for superb taste and aroma.
When Daniel Thwaites was embarking on his brewing career, the ’Indus’ would have been voyaging to the East Indies = trading Lancashire cotton for exotic Eastern delights. Our Indus Pale Ale celebrates ales of that period with a refreshing brew enriched with abundant hops for flavour that stays fresh and crisp to the finish.

500 ml bottle. Pours a dark amber colour with a small head. Aroma of cardboard, grains and some sweetness. Flavour is very mild with some cardboardy notes, grains, wort, caramel sweetness and old hops. Light bodied, high carbonation and a mild bitter finish. Tastes old. Useless.

Bottle. Light amber, small to average and fully diminishing head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, some caramel and light floral fruitiness, light hoppyness. Body is light to medium, malty and sweetish flavor, some caramel and floral fruitiness, light grassy hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish, some caramel and light fruitiness, light - some grassy hoppyness. Too sweet/too much caramel for me. OK hoppynes for English bitter though.

Bottle from Tesco, Longford [190214]
Dark amber, clear, frothy white head, some lacing
Aroma of fruity caramel malts, soft orange, soft peach, sweet fruits, barley sugar
Taste of orangey sweet fruity malts, dab of mango and peach, barley sugar malts, mainly sweet fruity malt, slight hop bitterness
Palate - soft carb, medium body, oily texture, fairly sweet palate. Finish as main flavour, soft bitter hop, oily sweet malty finish
Overall - Reasonably good for a supermarket beer, seemed better to me than the very low rates on here

Dry and drinkable with enough hop bitterness to make it interesting. Not too complex, but tastes good for that second it hits the palate.

17.01.2014. 0,5l Bottle. Spesialbutikken Vaaland, Bryne. Golden yellow colour with white head. Bitter hoppy aroma. Soft malty with aroma dominated by mild grassy floral hops. Fresh and easy drinkable IPA. Aftertaste is soft bitter with a soft touch of lemon. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I’m very glad I read the description prior to opening this one, because as an ESB, this makes sense. Good balance and strong malt backbone without ignoring the spicy hop character. Amazing finish that keeps you wanting another gulp.
