Sharp when first put into the mouth as though its waking the Taste buds.
Then swooshed around the mouth covering the back of the tongue and the cheeks. Leaving it before you swallow to saver the smooth taste.
This is not one to rush. Make it last and enjoy.

Aroma is mainly sweet caramel. Texture is quite soft, thick and oily with a light carbonation. I imagine this is how beer and cola taste when mixed. A nice sweetness on the lips but on the whole rather bland.

Bottle from Co-op. Pours dark brown with reddish hue when held to light. Nose is malty and chocolatey. Taste is chocolate malt with very subtle hop bitterness. Nice balance of sweet malt and hop bitterness. Some dried fruit flavours in there too.

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2010 (bottled)"Strong Brown Ale" It is brown , but strong? 5 % is session stuff in my opinion .For context sake , I had TommyKnocker Imperial Nut Brown ale at the GBBF in the summer -that was 9% , i’d all that ’ robust brown ale’.
the beige head was shy , hiding after the pouring , nice deep, burnt brown color. nose is syrupy ..malt caramel and dark fruit esters , similar to an Old Ale. also some earthy plastic for some reason . it drinks with malty rich caramel like notes , a dark fruit complexity ..with a mix of a.chocolaty roast and resiny hop bitterness . palate is pretty syrupy and cloying , sticky stuff . interesting beer . better than I’d thought , there’s kinda a depth here.

Impressive and very flavoursome brown ale. My initial thoughts were ’meaty’, if you can apply such a description to a beer, but that was my impression and reminded me of my first taste of Bartemans XXXB. A good sweetness that lasts, a beer full of body.

Not a bad brown ale, can be drank warmer than newcastle brown, not much to look at, average taste, not something I’d go for again
