George V, Brompton. A lovely soft and darkly malty best bitter with the hops well soaked into the malt. Mmm, very yummy. Long lingering hop soaked malt flavours - chocolate, fruit, tree bark, it’s all here and it all blends well. Enough individual flavours to keep the flavour spotter happy, yet a great drink as well. Awesome.

[cask at Catherine Wheel, Henley] A gorgeous chestnut-russet colour with a lasting white head, this looks every inch the perfect English pint. The smell is rich, earthy and tempting, and the earthiness continues into the flavour, with the addition of a big shovel of sweet malt and lots of autumn leaves. Theres a little orange in there too before a long bitter thirst-quenching finish that is perfectly balanced with the rest of the beer. A great English bitter with the flavour and characteristics starting to head into ESB territory. Good stuff.

Rosy tasting, a nice change for a cask ale. Knights Templar, Chancery Lane, London. Rather delicious, would have had a second but we were on the run.

UPDATED: NOV 12, 2005 Reddish in colour. Malty with a bit of caramel and fruit, it’s simple but actually quite tasty and an ideal session ale.

Dark amber beer with a slight flowery palate. Well balanced. Caramel and refreshingly everyday attitude. Slightly fruity aftertaste.

Cask at County Hotel JDW, Ashford Reddish ruby colour, plenty of fruity malt with strawberries and raspberries and then bitter hops to balance. Good session beer, but the balance is not quite there but the fruit is nice.

Soft aroma of hops, brown sugar and malt with notes of caramel. The taste is soft with hints of malt, caramel and a gentle hops bitterness. I like that the caramel flavor is slightly in the background and not as intrusive in the taste. Easy to drink and refreshing good!
