COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle Conditioned.
Surprisingly refreshing for a full-flavoured dark porter with subtle notes of smokiness and liquorice. A taste of the past, inspired by a time when the elite would gather in Elizabethan taverns, to sample the finest ales, porters and wines.

Bottle from Morrison. Black beer touch of liquorice some choc and cold coffee. Yes a touch over carbonated which I couldn’t do anything about as I was drinking it from a bottle on the train. chocolate sponge cake flavour. Some sting on the finish. Pretty good actually.

Bottle 500ml (K-Supermarket Manhattan, BB 10/2014)
Dark brown color, steady creamy beige head. Aroma is a bit strange ... barnyard? Tartness? Is this infected? Light-bodied. Sour, light coffee and toastyness. Very seldom I’ve had infected beer from established English brewery. To be rerated.

Bottle in the hotel room at the Premier Inn, Aberdeen. Pours a lightly oily black-brown with a tight, creamy beige head. Gives off a healthy, roasty, slightly lactic chocolate aroma. Pleasant flavor, light to medium sweet, with mild roast, burnt wood, cocoa, burnt leaves, minerals. Medium bodied with fine, smooth carbonation. Finishes dry with lots of burnt wood bitterness, some light smoke, minerals, light chocolate. A very decent beer overall.

imdownthepub (9954) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 15, 2011
Bottle conditioned, 500ml from Morrisons in Banbury. Black with off white head. There is a slight smokiness in the aroma leading to quite a rich, chocolate like flavour, some sweetness interlaced by a roasty bitterness. There is a fruity, berry flavour. A reasonably complex beer and a decent British Bottle Conditioned beer to boot.
