Commercial Description:
Cask; Regular.
"Brewed in celebration of Thwaites' award-winning Shire Horses, Thoroughbred is a light, almost golden beer with a delicate combination of Maris Otter and Pearl malts and a distinctive hoppy aroma derived from the blend of Fuggles and Goldings hops. A quaffing beer if ever there was one!"

Light and malty, a traditional bitter very easily drinkable. Nothing really leaps out at you to make you think it is interesting though.

(Rate mistakenly entered under the pasteurised version, 09/03/08). En Burbage. Thoroughbred?! Thoroughly vile. Quite possibly the most poisonously unpleasant, tainted pint I’ve ever been served anywhere in the world. Left nearly a half in the glass it was that bad-unprecedented. Stale raisins left cooking in a jar on a hot windowsill in Granny’s kitchen for several years. A sourly dried-fruity stale gelatinous twang, and very little else. Extraordinary. One to resample elsewhere. 43235

Cask at Ye Olde Starre Inne, York. labeled ’Thwaites Thoroughbred Gold’. Pours a clear golden-orange with an average size lasting creamy white head. Nice mild aroma of light citrusy hops backed by sweet malt. Flavour starts quite subtle but then kicks in with a nice amount of hops along with fruit (though thankfully not too much), sweet malt and a short bitter finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good stuff.

State bar. Aroma was caramel malts with hints of grass. Taste was thin carweml again from the malts, quite a bit of bitterness an grassy. Not to great, but in good condition.

Pint pulled at The Golden Lion in Settle(Yorkshire), a slight cloudiness to the amber colour with a sparkler induced creamy head. A grainy malt aroma. The malty flavour is sweeter, with a touch of bitter hops int he background. It grew on me after a few, but overall a bit bland.

[CASK: The Bull’s Head, Piccadilly, Manchester 05/03/07] Not very impressive. A resanoble ale but middle range. Nothing special, not much flavour or taste.
