COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
Higher abv version of Nutty Black.
Normally brewed solely for the home market, Daniel Thwaites has broken all the rules with an export strength version of its award winning ale. The same great well rounded flavours and nuttiness lie within but bottles will now leave Lancashire destined for the Far East (Leeds) and even remote areas of the southern hemisphere (such as Watford).

500ml bottle from Waitrose. Very very dark black dark ruby, with a disappearing beige head. It’s a decent mild. Some choc, some smoothness, it is half decent very mild and reasonably full. Very drinkable.

I am surprised by all the low scores on this.... it is not the best i had but thr nutty black is overall a beer i would keep in stock and even drink as a session beer since it is only 3.9ABV. It stands for normal times great for sports nights, and also would be good to hve at a steak dinner.not a world class brew but a good one to be sure. Hint i suggest pouring it into a pint as this type would be best in. It lets your head be better.

Bottle 500 ml at home. Labeled simply Nutty Black but the barcode and ABV 3.9% fit, so I am rating it under this. Into a big tulip. Pours dark brown, with ruby shades where light hits it. Huge dark beige head, thick and creamy, with great retention, leaving medium lacing on the glass. Aroma is unexpectedly fruity, berries like, some liquorice. Taste has roasted malts, red fruits, a bit of stale coffee, grass. Medium thin body, good carbonation, very dry initially on the palate but after that the dryness seems to tone down a bit. Overall a tasty beer and very easy to drink.

good aroma pleasant. A nice dark appearance and promises of a silky smooth pint. The taste disappointed me. I was expecting more but t tasted a bit diluted. Overall it was ok but not one I would buy again

Dunkelmaziger Geruch. Der Antrunk ist mild-malzig, angenehm mild, recht süffig. Man merkt den geringen Alkoholgehalt. Aber durch die angenehm-malzige Note wirkt das Bier trotzdem nicht wässrig. Sehr toll. Der Nachgeschmack ist röstmalzig-schokoladig, dabei angenehm herb. Röstmalzig-herbe Töne bleiben lange auf der Zunge. --> Für die 3.9% richtig toll! --> 13/12/13/13

Really nice black ruby pour with great head. Aroma’s a bit nutty, roasty, and fruity, but more apple than the darker carameled fruits i’d like/expect. Taste is alright, with some nutty biscuit notes and a bit of roast again. Palate is a bit thin, though the carbonation amps it a bit.

(Bottle): Pours lovely, very black with small tinge of red. Almost no head. Aroma is nutty, hints of coffee and liquorice. Taste is similar - malty, nutty taste but unfortunately is very watery and doesnt leave much on the palate.

Very enjoyable, and another mild! Some choc and not much nut. Dark loveliness. Great lunchtime brew. Yes. See Dom consume imminently.
