COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
Higher abv version of Thwaites mild, which has been sold under various names.
Previously sold as Very Nutty Black
Normally brewed solely for the home market, Daniel Thwaites has broken all the rules with an export strength version of its award winning ale. The same great well rounded flavours and nuttiness lie within but bottles will now leave Lancashire destined for the Far East (Leeds) and even remote areas of the southern hemisphere (such as Watford).

500ml bottle, bottle-conditioned, from Morrisons. Deep chocolate brown in colour with an amber tint against the light, and a trace of off-white head; chocolate malt aroma; milky texture with smooth chocolate malts, and hints of toast and treacle; oily, satisfying finish with a gentle bitterness. An excellent mild.

Bottle from Morrisons. deep ruby red, with next to no head but plenty of carbonation. Sweetish malt aroma, with roastiness and dark chocolate. Flavour started sweet, with more chocolate, before a charred edge and dryish finish. Good.

(bottle conditioned). I have a cold, so everything smells like shit , but I got subtle coffee and dark chocolate breaking through the sinus blocking... nice black base , with lose beige head that just died too soon. A pretty grimy and unslick dark ale but soulful and honest features ,with a meaty , smoky , roastines, ev ident bitter chocolate and dark fruit , like tart plums ....This beer is a bit syrupy and jamish in body , with what i’d call a sludgy texture . Dirty , but diggable and niceale .

Bottle conditioned. Pours a thin loose tan head, with poor retention. Black body. Aroma is metallicy/irony. Some fruits if you really look. Strange. A bad batch perhaps, although as the rating shows I still rather liked it. Later coming through is weak hints of cherries, chocolate milkshake, roastiness and Coca Cola. Rather sweet; there is some bitterness there. It smells like blood and looks like blood. Very refreshing and restorative. High carbonation, dry finish with some bitterness. Soft and silky mouthfeel. A good mild, particularly as the style never seems to much suit being bottled.

A dark mahoganny brown ale with a thin dark moka head. In aroma, very nice caramel overlayed with moka coffee and light creamy vanilla. In mouth, a soft sweet nutty malt with light coffee notes, a bit lighter than expected but very quaffable. Bottle from MLCC on Pembina Highway.
