after4ever (1717), Brier, Washington, USA Aug 9, 2006 Updated: Aug 14, 2006<para>My 200th rating. Ordinarily, not a high enough number to merit a comment, but what’s nice here is that the guy who had my table took a while to warm up on his shift--he was pretty grumpy at first and you could tell he didn’t want to be there. As I finished my 8-glass sampler, we chatted for a while, since I was from out of town. Out of the blue, he ran and grabbed this beer to make sure I had a chance to try everything they had on draft. Nice poetic symmetry there--a bonus beer for #200. Not only that, but it’s a beer that wasn’t even on the site when I got back to the hotel.</para>
<para>Draft at the brewery in San Jose. Nice nutty, grassy nose. Pours fizzy yellow with a disappearing white head. Must be a fresh keg, or they’re on to something with this--this beer actually has some depth to the body (if not the flavor profile).</para>
<para> Not much in the mid-palate or the finish, but definitely one of the better American-brewed pale lagers I’ve had. Meaning...well, it’s just about passable.</para>
