3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap @ Tied House. Darker amber colored beer with a thin layer of khaki foam. Pretty much a nutty brown ale here. There’s a nice toasted hazelnut and walnut thing going on. Some sweet caramel malts and a little bit of chocolate. Hints of coffee bitterness and earthy hops to balance the sweetness. Pretty decent, actually. Probably my favorite of their house beers.

Sample at the brewpub. Clear brownish-amber color with a medium light beige head that diminishes quickly to a film. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt and nuts. Light-bodied with flavors of roast malt, fruit and slight earthy hops. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Average overall.

On tap, sampler. Light brown, not much head. Mild nose, malt and yeast. A bit thin on the attack, but overall pleasant if unremarkable. Might be good on a hot afternoon.

Claims to be English style, but it’s much fizzier than most British ales. Not bad though.
