foduck (300), Denton, Texas, USA Jun 9, 2007 in tropical weather i didn’t want anything heavier than this. drank this on numerous occassions in various kopi tiam throughout kuala lumpur and penang. the open-air eateries are all stocked with this. light-bodied with a slightly dry finish. it seems that the refrigerators they keep the beer in aren’t very cold but surprisingly this didn’t taste totally awful at room temperature so it gets points for that. good for cooling off your palate which might be burning hot from the curry mee you just ate.
SeanMacGC (47), Dublin, Ireland Oct 5, 2008 Bottle. Pours golden, with porous but short-living head. Faint aroma of hops and malt on the nose, and those with some yeast on the palate. Unremarkable beer. heavy (503), Split, Croatia Oct 1, 2008 0.33 l bottle from a store in Tirane, Albania, if I remember well. Poured pale golden body with medium sized head that went down soon. Very weak aroma, only some stale malts. Flavor is interesting though, a bit sweetish malty with hay and some fruits if you extend your imagination. Interesting, but I still didn’t like it so much. Even more strange were the notes of belgian ale yeast in its finish. OK and pretty pleasant, but no better than average pale lager. Doggythedog (1018), Split, Croatia Oct 1, 2008 Bottle courtesy of and shared with heavy who found it in Albania (thanks!) Poured a yellow body with a medium sized white head that went away fast. The nose wasn’t impressive, odd malt and honey, a bit alcohol. The taste is malty as well I guess, notes of hay and wood, some soapy fruity sweetness. Better than expected by being passable. Still, nothing special. DrSamPHD (17), Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA Oct 1, 2008 I was actually surprised by this beer. Poured with a clear orange color, and had a slightly fruity taste with a light white thin head. I enjoyed this beer, considering the low expectation i had for it. Cheers to Singapore! Slipstream (387), USA Sep 22, 2008 So Heineken has something to do with this. It seems like a lot of leading Asian brews are owned or co-brewed by a leading European company. This has an inoffensive aroma. Taste is pretty insipid dry lager with a touch of Central European hops. Light and smooth, with a little more alcohol than expected. Tiger is a fairly typical Asian pale lager - not bad, just bland.
