4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Draft at Tap House Grill, Westmont. Finally get to pop the cap on another recent Chicago brewer. I found myself really liking this and thinking it was a Double IPA. Let me count the ways: a sudsy IPA head over a bright, brassy body. I thought I was just getting a snootful of Mr. Cascade Hopp and his lupalin friends, not having a full description of the beer in front of me. But definitely a very fresh hop beer. Bold taste combining pine, resin and citrus. Lemony aftertaste from the hops, but still matched by plenty of big malts.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Tight Head Brewpub. Amber with a slowly fading medium tan topper. Aroma of citrus, caramel and some noble hopes. Taste not in line with aromaÖ wheat, citrus, caramel, herbal and floral notes and some dank notes with a mild bitter finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled on draft at the Mundelein beer festival. Pours a nice golden amber with a small white head. Aroma is focused on mango and tropical fruit notes, with a fair amount of citrus hops manifesting themselves as grapefruit and tangerine notes. Apparent floral notes as well. Pale bready malt notes provide some balance to the nose. Flavor is dank with an interesting bouquet of bitter hop flavors. Some mild pale malt backing. Lightish bodied, lively carbonation. Finishes nice and dry, hoppy. Quite nice.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Had on tap at Wild Monk, served in a shaker pint.
A: Pours a dark golden yellow with a thick, off white head forming on the pour. It recedes to a thick cap that leaves some sticky sheets of lace down the glass.
S: Some light cracker malts with a mild citrus pith backing. Maybe orange peel? A little grass, but Iím hard pressed to pick out any real bold flavors.
T: Same as the nose. Light cracker malts with a touch of residual sweetness. Some grassy notes with a wee bit of citrus, but itís mostly devoid of flavor. Definitely stretching for them here.
M: Basically like drinking light beer water here. Easily crushable with a nice carbonation, but it loses points for no residual flavors.
O: Not sure if this was an old keg, bad batch or what, but there really wasnít any flavors. It didnít taste old or overly malty so Iím not sure what was going on with this. Iíll revisit if I see it on tap again to see if it was an isolated incident.
Serving type: on-tap

2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
From tap. Pours copper with small whit e head. For those who have tried Three Floyd's Gumballhead; this is very similar with a hit more malt and a lot more bitter finish. For those who have not; it tastes like an IPA with a little extra citrus and thickness from the wheat.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Had this from draft at sheffields. Orange cloudy and thick pour. Nice citrus aroma. The taste upfront is weird - bread and Carmel backbone but has the hoppy and floral IPA taste as well. Unusual but I think I like it

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft on tap at the brewery (Mundelein, IL). An exciting description. Pours a richer golden amber pour, gentle haze, bright rich glow with a bright white small layer of a head. Sized small, laces ok overall. Aromas are a more lush hop experience, citrusy grapefruit, lemon and florals meet some white grape, gentle mango and tropical fruit elements. Some more florals, bready malts, pale grain. Initial is pretty dank, richer hop presence throws some pine, florals, and bigger citrus fruit wallops. Richer tropical fruit presence immediately tapers off, tropical fruit and mango, some gumball, lemons, white grape. Some bready malts, pale grain and malts, some gentle sweetness aided by a tropical fruit rush from the hop profile. Some wheat, flaked wheat, bread. Middle shows some sweetness, lighter body, grapefruit and floral hops still stick around, firm bitterness tempered into tropical fruit, bready malts, and mellow sweetness. Backend offers a touch of dryness, florals, medium hop presence. The malt body is small, the hops get a bit sweet a times due to the tropical elements (but we never get cotton candy flavors). Finish is dry, medium hops. Nice flavors, pretty solid diversely hopped APA from a local brewer. Nice.
