3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Sdaniel90 (178) - Estado de México, MEXICO - APR 12, 2010
Bottle, 355ml. Pours a clear mahagony colour with a small light-brown head. Low carbonation. Aroma is of caramel and roasted malt, nice, but pretty faint. Taste is robust and heavy, but ultimately lacking in flavour, too watery, shame. Low bitterness, but with a great roasted finish. Good beer.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Nekronos (2627) - Xalapa, MEXICO - JAN 9, 2010
Nice beer this, but a little watery, very aromatic, but although a little smoky it was perhaps incipit. I expected a little more.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Headbanger (2072) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - MAY 3, 2009
12oz bottle 4/2/09 (Binny’s Naperville)-Pours a dark brown with a small covering for a head. Aroma of roasted malt. Taste of the same with a bit of hops and caramel thrown in. This medium bodied brew is quite tasty and better than I expected.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 naivepegasus (264) - USA - JAN 3, 2009
Pours a dark ruby with a creamy, light beige head. Strong roasted malt notes in the odor. The taste starts off of light caramel and ends with a slight burnt toast aftertaste. An interesting beer, definitely better than I expected.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DarkElf (2938) - La Jolla, California, USA - SEP 10, 2008
08-Sep-08 (12 oz bottle: Purchased 08-Aug-07 at Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido, CA) I’ve let this one sit a bit longer than I planned, but with great results. This beer is wonderfully malty, very toasty, and mildly earthy, but the roastiness exhibits a slightly burnt character. Of particular note is the fact that the finishes with a flurry of corn flavors, but the roastiness helps to mask it. There is some perceived sweetness because the beer is so malt-focused and throws hints of brown sugar at you, but it’s actually rather dry on the palate. Medium bodied with light-medium carbonation. Aside from the obvious malty character of the nose, the beer smells like roasted pecans and fairly dark toast, but note of corn and dough lurk in the background. The clear, medium-brown body is capped by a small, tan head that settles to a thin ring. A touch too much corn in the flavor and the roastiness is a bit charred, but otherwise, this is an enjoyable beer and obviously one of the better beers made in Mexico.

Found this bottled in an import multi-pack at World Market in St. Charles, Illinois. Clear, dark brown pour with a nice, thick tan head, mild chocolate and nuts in the nose, smoky, chocolatey coffee taste with a caramel, malty finish. Probably the best Mexican beer I’ve ever had.
