lweiberg (87), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Jun 27, 2009 Pretty decent stuff, although I’m not down with only 11.2 ounce bottles served in 4 packs for $8.99 plus tax. Still, might be a better deal than spending a pretty penny for higher ABV Belgians. Drink4Satan (566), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Jun 21, 2009 Pours a clear almond colour with a frothy tan head that leaves great paper-thin lacing. The nose is slightly nutty with some fruity/ light bready malt sugar sweetness poking through. There are suggestions fig and caramel. The flavour is of sugary-sweet caramel and toffee with an earthy hop and cereal grain finish. The body is meidum/full with a slick body and a slightly watery finish. I decent session brew RCL (1323), Waltham, Massachusetts, USA Jun 14, 2009 Light earth and leather notes waft above the sweet caramel in the aroma. Flavor is off dry with a drier finish. Not bad, just strikes me as "La Trappe Light". Rustyham (335), miami, Florida, USA Jun 14, 2009 Crisp, Nutty, Earthy, light. Like mixing an Abbey Dubbel with a Newcastle. I could pound a few of these, especially at the Price of $4 a bottle at Zeke’s on Miami Beach. Expected more flavor from Koningshoeven, tho. mabel (2208), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 11, 2009 [2130-20090504] Tap. Sweet grainy malt aroma. Clear, rich red dark brown body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Rich sweet malt flavour is mildly boozy with a long sweet mildly fruity finish. Medium body. Average.
(@ Volo; Toronto, ON) Pwn3d (877), Manhattan, New York, USA Jun 9, 2009 Rating same as JRedmond.. Bottle. Amber body, no head. Aroma is malt. Taste is plain, flavor is generic malt. DigitalMan (82), Idaho, USA Jun 8, 2009 Aroma seems slightly off-putting... not right in some way I can’t place. No head, some lacing. Fairly dark brown. Decent enough, but ordinary in flavor. Has hints of trying at some sort of Trappist flavor. Not sold on this one. jredmond (831), New Jersey, USA Jun 7, 2009 Bottle. Amber body, no head. Aroma is malt. Taste is plain, flavor is malt.
