Aroma of malts, caramel, toffee and yeast are apparent. Tastes as such, light to medium bodied with a pretty smooth finish. Nothing pale for me. This is by far an outstanding ale. Toffee and caramel undertones with an incredible finish, nothing obscure left when swallowed. Pleasant aroma and rich color combined with a vibrant pour makes for a filling and satisfying ale. In the past I have hounded, emailed and outright complained to my favorite restaurant to carry Tilburg’s. They do now. I do so love the painting ’The Garden Of Earthly Delight’ by Hieronymus Bosch on the front label. Bids you to wonder just what’s inside.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 20, 2008 Great dark, nut brown body with a healthy off-white head the diminishes quickly. No carbonation. Aroma of sweet nuts, some barley/grassy stuff and a hint of chocolate. Moves quickly over the tongue with minimal aftertaste for a brown ale. Mild, sweet taste with notes of chocolate, toffee, and fruit (grape?). Good. vikingguy (144), Chaska, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2008 At first sip it reminded me of Newcastle although it has a better mouthfeel and is more complex. It has a nice caramel finish to it. I like brown ales and this probably the best I’ve had. GregClow (2495), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 13, 2008 Draught at Rhino Bar & Grill. Ruby-brown with a thin tan head. A lot of caramel malt and toffee in the aroma, with notes of coffee and dark fruit as well. Medium bodied. Flavour follows the aroma, with the addition of hints of hazelnut and dark sugar, and some spicy notes as it warms and the flavours open a bit. Seemed like a fairly average brown ale with a slight Belgian character at first, but by the end of the glass, I was really enjoying it. m4rest88 (216), Beverly Hills, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 13, 2008 Pours with a small light brown head that mostly diminishes. The body hue is dark brown with lively carbonation. Aroma is of yeast, dark ripe fruits, and roasted oats. There are some hints of sweet malt in the beer as well. Some caramel and coffee as well.
Beer tastes a bit sweet at the start and ends on an alcholic note with some (very light bitterness). Medium body feel to the palate with a light syrupy texture.
What a great beer! I am definitely going to look for this one soon! I am very surprised with this beer, to say the least. I was not expecting it to taste this good - considering i picked it up from a crappy supermarket in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico with a bad selection! pj1855 (154), Eagan, Minnesota, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Aug 10, 2008 Poured a redish brown with a foamy tan head that did not last. Aroma of roasted malts and coffee. Nothing really stands out for me with this one. I think the person that describes this as a flat soda said it best. Maybe I got a bad bottle.
