KDorgan12 (163), Memphis, Tennessee, USA Jul 9, 2008 Bottle-Memphis. Shallow, tan head with caramel and toffee nose. Smooth palate with soft coffee notes. Great Brown. EHopper (274), Minnesota, USA Jun 28, 2008 Malty, sweet and sour brown beer with hints of over-ripe fruit. Now notice a kind of ash smell? Nice drinking. More impressed with the label. thejon375 (390), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 17, 2008 Great brown ale with a crazy Bosch painting on the label. I would recommend anyone to buy this beer, enjoy it and really examine the pic on the label. undsioux7 (553), Cologne, Minnesota, USA Jun 14, 2008 Pours a clear dark brown with ruby peeking through. Almost no head. Aroma of nuts and malt. Taste of bread and nuts with a bit of an astringent tartness in the end. jcurtis55 (17), Plainfield, Indiana, USA Jun 13, 2008 Updated: Apr 2, 2009The picture on the label is from the painting "Garden of Earthly Delights" by Hieronymous Bosch. He did the painting in 1504, but if someone told you it was done by a 1960’s artist under the influence of LSD, you wouldn’t question it. Quite bizzare.
As for the beer, this is a nice smooth brown ale. Very drinkable, but certainly not a big beer. I got very little head or lacing, Slightly sweet and malty. This could definitely be a session beer. Mouthfeel is pretty thin, but pleasant enough.
For those who prefer malt flavors over hops. imdownthepub (5089), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Jun 13, 2008 Bottled, 330ml. Chestnut colour with cream head. Slightly sweet and sticky, which would normally be a turn off for me, but this overcomes it with burnt toffee and cooked fruit notes. There is a carbonated wet paper note initially, but that disperses and the malts take over. Quite reasonable. Baadstorp (55), Århus, Denmark Jun 10, 2008 an average brown ale. nice notes og fruit and caramel. nothing big but still pretty good sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 24, 2008 Bottle: Pours a clear red with a light tan head. Aroma, bready, caramel, some belgian yeast. Flavor, yeasty, some tartness, caramel, and fruity notes. Very run of the mill.
