glennmastrange (805), hobe sound, Florida, USA Aug 9, 2007 Updated: Aug 7, 2009Bottle. Heavy malt aromas of nuts and cereal with prune, ruby port, brown sugar, pepper and perhaps bourbon after it warms a bit. I noted a hint of mustiness I supposed was yeast. Head is small, fizzy, off white with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear red/brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet and finishes a little tart. Body is medium, between watery and creamy with lively carbonation. I was surprised how much depth was in the aroma of this beer. GlenVargas (120), El Paso, Texas, USA Aug 4, 2007 Honestly, Tilburg’s Dutch Brown Ale has been one of my favorite beers for awhile now. I revisited it last night, and I still love it. It doesn’t have quite the hoppiness or alcohol content that I’m used to tasting in great beers, but it’s just so damn tasty (chocolate, caramel, brown sugar)! It seems to me that the biggest criticism would be that Tilburg’s is too syrupy sweet, but I haven’t read anything to that effect; it seems way underrated. shawnm213 (882), South Bend, Indiana, USA Aug 1, 2007 very smooth. neat picture on bottle of a bird-man with a pot on his head eating a human with smaller bird’s coming out of the ass. SmellGood (314), Memphis, Tennessee, USA Jul 25, 2007 Pretty damn good! I was not expecting much after pouring due to minimal aroma but what a surprise. Flavor not too sweet too shock the palate but leaves enough sweetness (raisin?) to want more. nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 17, 2007 33 cl; K27B7 date stamp. Translucent and darkish brown-ruby, with a huge creamy tan foam. Raisins, earthy herbs and dry yeast aromas. Flavors of prunes, grapes, cherries, hints of chocolate; all surrounded by some mellowing dryness and slight bitterness that keeps all the malty flavors from becoming unruly. Palate is medium-bodied, smooth with some acidic tingle and dryness at the end. Seems like a Belgian-style yeast twist on a brown; well done and unique. puggy211 (576), cordova, Tennessee, USA Jul 16, 2007 bottle, raisin, caramel, citrus, red, clear, white foam, frothy, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, light body, thin feel, soft carbonation, very nice.I like this alot very good brown ale. wcampbell (572), Central, South Carolina, USA Jul 15, 2007 A full bodied brown ale. Completely sweet and smooth. Not a trace of bitterness or hops. The low carbonation makes this beer extremely easy to drink. viciousg42 (46), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Jul 8, 2007 a pretty good brown ale. beats newcastle. i think it would be more interesting if it had a tiny bit more effervescence and sweetness to it.
