Raisins, earthy herbs and dry yeast aromas. Flavors of prunes, grapes, cherries, hints of chocolate; all surrounded by some mellowing dryness and slight bitterness that keeps all the malty flavors from becoming unruly. Palate is medium-bodied, smooth with some acidic tingle and dryness at the end. Seems like a Belgian-style yeast twist on a brown; well done and unique. puggy211 (584), cordova, Tennessee, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 6, 2007 THOUGHTS: I noticed this beer because of its unusual logo. Nice balance between sweet and sour. Not much hops in flavor. Maybe some grassy notes, but very light. Sort of reminds me of a lighter old ale. Extreemly easy to drink. A nice beer and a great brown ale.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, dark red to medium brown with a large, creamy, off-white head that mostly lasted and left good lacing. The aroma was moderate malasses or caramel malt, light grassy hops, light yeast and perhaps a litttle cola. The initial flavor was moderately sweel and slightly sour, while the finish was moderate to heavy sweetness, sourness and very light bitterness with a short duration. The medium body was oily with soft carbonation and a light to moderate astringent finish. waolsen (1222), Littleton, Colorado, USA
