aracauna (2357), Georgia, USA Apr 8, 2006 This pours a clear brown. The aroma is full of overripe apples with a brown sugar background. The flavor is moderately sweet. The label is probably better than the beer though. blowtorch (13), North Carolina, USA Apr 7, 2006 I really liked this ale. I bought it as part of a create-your-own 6-pack at Bloom, and found it quite refreshing and rich-flavored. The Netherlands once again show their strength in brewing. JoeMcPhee (4911), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Apr 3, 2006 330 ml bottle. Pours a deep garnet tinted brown colour, thick creamy tan, very persistant. Sweet plummy maltiness, toast, candi sugar and some complex kettle-caramel flavours as well. Great flavour, toasty with a bit of herbal mintiness on the finish. Sweet, but not cloying or syrupy at all. Soft, creamy texture and carbonation. Body feels a bit wheaty. Nice beer. macguy (144), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Mar 31, 2006 Chocolate malt nose, medium brown color, tan head that goes away quickly, the flavor is sweetish with a citrus finish Indra (2023), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Mar 26, 2006 330ml bottle. Aroma is predominantly malty with notes of dark bread and milky caramel sweetness in the background, along with some faintly floral perfume and an odd sort of vegetative tinge, perhaps olive? Light suggestions of raisin and cocoa appear after considerable warming. Deep, clear dark brown in color with a slight, very fine yet lasting head and artful lacing. Lightly bitter and yeasty to start, developing into more of a grainy, sweet, lightly roasted malt character and finishes with a blend of a distinct sort of tangy dried fruitiness, lingering dark sugars, chocolate, tobaccoish herbs and pepper. Thin, watery and moderately effervescent palate, body is medium. Not spectacular, but its price did not indicate that it would necessarily be... veringer (5), USA does not count Mar 22, 2006 I thought this brown ale was a treat. It was sweet, almost cidery, with a taste of currant perhaps. The aftertaste is pleasant to non-existant. More of a beer to sip than to drink in any quantity as it settled rather heavy in my stomach. Still, it’s going on my permanent favorites list. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Mar 9, 2006 From the bottle, this looks like the brown the name suggests, except when held to the light when it’s actually a radiant red. Nice head with an almost marshmellowy texture. The aroma hints at the sweet bite of a Granny smith apple, and the same flavor flourishes on the palatte. Quite delicious. trafford (171), Germantown, Tennessee, USA Mar 7, 2006 One of the better Brown Ale’s I have tried. I picked it up on a beer run to West Memphis and will go back again. I has a very creamy feel with just the right amount of sweetness.
