Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Oct 22, 2005 Clear brown ale with a thick collapsing moka head. Bottle foamed over upon opening. Fruity sweet malt with caramel and prunes. In mouth, sweet burned caramel with very little hops, raisin notes and a rather uninspired mix. Medium bodied. Thanks , piscator. swebri (16), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Oct 19, 2005 The aroma of hops intrigued me but left me unsatisfied. Plenty of malt/carmally flavorings. The taste lingers for a while on my tongue. I will recommend this for a good brown ale. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark Oct 19, 2005 33 cl bottle. No yeast in bottom. Reddish brown colour with a weak rocky head. Aroma of bublegym. Very sweet and malty flavour, little notes of some roasted malt. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Oct 14, 2005 Deep clear mahogany. Nose sweet, cookie-ish malts. Flavor is exceedingly sugary and sweet, some chocolate and mild peat, but the sugariness overpowers everything else. It’s not completely horrible, but I can see completely horrible from where I’m standing. MoritzF (4856), Bochum, Germany Oct 12, 2005 (bottle) Red brown colour with a small creamy off-white head. Aroma of sweet biscuits, caramel, prunes. Sweet flavour, medium body. Initially sweet toast-malty, slightly raisin-fruity taste and with a liquorice finish, a bit sugary. SSSteve (2045), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 5, 2005 musty malt aroma with brown sugar and caramel. caramel malts and sweet fruit flavor.. very watery with low carbonation. dark red color. slightly metallic. jasonp (1504), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA Oct 3, 2005 Dark clear mahogany (not really brown at all) with a nice beige head. Aroma mostly of caramel and some faint roastiness. Very sweet. Toasted malt, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, with a touch of chocolate and the slightest bit of roastiness. Very light bitterness, finishes watery. Mouthfeel is on the thin and watery side with a low level of carbonation. Didn’t care for this one much. Retorp (2154), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 26, 2005 Strong acidic aroma balanced by a mellow maltiness. Dark brown with a lovely two finger thick tan head. Caramel malts, smooth fruits like apple and raisin with a strong hint of walnut in the finish. Great sipping beer. I’d love to have this fresh on draft.
