demdeac40 (238), Etowah, North Carolina, USA Sep 22, 2005 Decent for what it is. At least it is better than what Newcastle has become. A little nut and caramel on the aroma and it pours nice into a glass. Short but okay on the palate. Wouldn’t choose everyday. Fantomas23 (463), Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA Sep 18, 2005 Chocolately brown with a mousse-like head. Silky smooth with a pleasing amount of raisinette sweetness. Easily quaffable and recommended for a change from other brown ales. alobar (1006), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 16, 2005 Very enjoyable beer! Solid, reddish brown color with a slightly tan head that has some staying power. Slighty hoppy, molasses taste with a sweet aftertaste. matta (1137), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 14, 2005 New in Town!
Pours an amber body… and a full tan head. The aroma and flavor on first notice bring hints of green apple, toffee, woodsy hops, green grapes with the skins, a hint of walnut… and a strange light skunkyness in the finish…. reminds me of New Castle Brown with a doughy yeasty twist… Not so impressed…. And La Trappe’s beers were once so Impressive....
redlight (1445), Winter Park, Florida, USA Sep 14, 2005 Caramel, sweet aroma, some roasty malts too. Pours dark brown, small white head. Tastes sweet, caramel. Great brown. Mads Langtved (2246), Copenhagen K, Denmark Sep 12, 2005 Draught. Big head. Caramel and malt flavour. Some acid and metal aftertaste. A standar brown ale and and not too interesting. Suttree (2702), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Sep 11, 2005 Clear brown, with a foamy tan head. Thick, viscous palate. Mushy sweet malty flavors dominate, with mellow, pwppery hop note in the finish. Some hints of prune and um, Dr. Pepper, maybe? Cable (286), SE, Oklahoma, USA Sep 8, 2005 Sampled from bottle. Pours dark mahogany with an foamy tan head and remarkable lacing. Earthy aroma with flowers, dark fruit and cocoa. Flavor has plums, cinnamon, chocolate and hints of cherries. Medium to full-bodied, well-carbonated and silky mouthfeel. Pretty easy to drink.
