csbosox (970), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Mar 30, 2008 Dark red with a one fingered, and colored head. Aroma is caramel, malt, and spicy. Taste is slightly sour, malty, floral, fruit, chocolate. Belgian yeast characteritics. Very easy drinking, nice body.
NJJereme (125), Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA Aug 27, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours an amber/brown color with a light off-white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, toffee and yeast are apparent. Tastes as such, light to medium bodied with a pretty smooth finish. Jef_McIntosh (1), , Texas, USA does not count Aug 25, 2008 I dwell on beers that are liquid bricks. Nothing pale for me. This is by far an outstanding ale. Toffee and caramel undertones with an incredible finish, nothing obscure left when swallowed. Pleasant aroma and rich color combined with a vibrant pour makes for a filling and satisfying ale. In the past I have hounded, emailed and outright complained to my favorite restaurant to carry Tilburg’s. They do now. I do so love the painting ’The Garden Of Earthly Delight’ by Hieronymus Bosch on the front label. Bids you to wonder just what’s inside.
greedycheater (77), Oklahoma, USA Aug 20, 2008 Great dark, nut brown body with a healthy off-white head the diminishes quickly. No carbonation. Aroma of sweet nuts, some barley/grassy stuff and a hint of chocolate. Moves quickly over the tongue with minimal aftertaste for a brown ale. Mild, sweet taste with notes of chocolate, toffee, and fruit (grape?). Good. martinboer (1327), Amsterdam, Netherlands Aug 20, 2008 Bottle from Bier Koning. This was never available in the Netherlands until now, only the US, so I’ve been looking forward to trying it.. Body is dark brown, healthy head. Malty, caramel nose. Quite sweet in the taste and carbonated. Tastes of toffee, coffee, caramel. Crisp finish. vikingguy (38), Chaska, Minnesota, USA Aug 14, 2008 At first sip it reminded me of Newcastle although it has a better mouthfeel and is more complex. It has a nice caramel finish to it. I like brown ales and this probably the best I’ve had.
