Taste of bread and nuts with a bit of an astringent tartness in the end. jgentgesdo (564), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 17, 2004 Pours brown/amber with a tan medium head that slowly diminishes, fairly poor lacing. Nose is floral and some yeasty notes too. Very apple flavored to the taste, along with mild malt and hops flavors, and a slight alcohol aftertaste. I get very little caramel character out of this - fruit predominates. Finishes astringent and watery. Overall good beer. TheCaptain (559), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 8, 2003 Beautiful beer. Mahogany with tons of rising carbonation. Medium, but dense, lasting head. Drooping lace. Clean nutty, caramel aroma. Mouthfeel is creamy and slightyly, metallic. Texture is watery, but sticky. Sweet, fruity, woody flavors. Malty, nutty, finish. Lot of dark fruit in there. Quite a sweet and full flavored brown. Tastes like a English brown with a Belgian yeast strain. Ok beer. obisbeer (558), Barcelona, Spain
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 5, 2004 Nice deep amber brown with a thick white head. Sweet nut nose with some malt. Nice mouthfeel with a richness of light chocolate, and carmel, and some mettalic notes on the finish. Compared to Newcastle it’s great but in the end that’s not saying a lot! Comming from De Koningshoeven, I was expecting much more than I got. Its got flavour, but its just so flat and bland. I finished it not even realizing it to be honest. Still better than Newcastle MikeF (528), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 10, 2007 med brown. scant off white head. fruity sugary aroma that reminds me of a Belgian strong ale. The flavor is not as rich as the aroma, but for a brown ale, not too bad. Overall appropriate light crisp malt flavor with more prominent notes of caramel, malt and faintly fruit finishing slightly bitter, wet but refreshing. Take it for what it is. It beats most American browns... Admiral (524), Schnecksville, Pennsylvania, USA
