4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
Resin-floral scent with a cough drop type of accent. Very peculiar smell that is as enticing as it is strangely arranged. Shines a beautiful crystal clear golden-red when held up to the light. Head is frothy white initially, but dissapates rapidly. Light sweet taste that compliments the aforementioned aroma. Light body with a extremely thin, watery texture. No carbonation whatsoever, with a abrupt finish that diminishes the amazing taste of the ale rapidly. I think this beer has received an unfair overall rating. I would highly recommend this ale and its strange label, and with my rating I aim to bring up its status. ;-)

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
UPDATED: JAN 9, 2008 Aroma is pleasant-caramel and fruity. Taste is similar and very good. Aftertaste is nice as well. Drinks easy and is one of the best brown ales. I have been drinking this for 6 months and have not been disappointed. Could not get for 8-10 weeks and was disappointed in many of the other brown ales I tried during this time.

I dwell on beers that are liquid bricks. Nothing pale for me. This is by far an outstanding ale. Toffee and caramel undertones with an incredible finish, nothing obscure left when swallowed. Pleasant aroma and rich color combined with a vibrant pour makes for a filling and satisfying ale. In the past I have hounded, emailed and outright complained to my favorite restaurant to carry Tilburg’s. They do now. I do so love the painting ’The Garden Of Earthly Delight’ by Hieronymus Bosch on the front label. Bids you to wonder just what’s inside.

4.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours amber brown with fluffy off-white yellowish head. Smells malty, but not too much, and very little hop aroma (none, to be exact). Has just the right amount of sweetness and no bitterness in the taste with a nutty flavor, exactly how I like my brown ales. Medium-bodied with a creamy texture and mild mouth-carbonation, Tilburgís Dutch Brown Ale finishes sweet and smooth.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured rootbeer-brown with a nice taupe head, leaving a fair amount of lacing. Very sweet aroma. Starts off smooth, with a stringent hop bite in the middle, and a very pleasant, sweet finish. The word "velvety" comes to mind. Canít quite place the sweetness...I see some here have called it caramel, grape, molasses...but thatís not quite it to me. Molasses probably comes closest. Very pleasant brew.

bottle. little to no head. fruity smell and also a caramel or malt smell. this beer is very sweet. great after taste. it has a great redish brown color. may be a tad too sweet to drink more than one at one time. a very good beer if want something a tad out of the norm.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Strong, malty aroma has subtle nutty and woody notes plus a hint of molasses. It pours a clear chestnut with a fairly thick light tan head. Satisfying flavor has a malty core with nutty and molasses tones plus hints of caramel and cloves. Smooth texture has good body and average fizz. A tasty brown ale that is worth finding, especially if this is your favorite style.

Simple good beer. Has a very slight sweet or honey taste, nice amount of bubbles, just right. I really enjoyed this, it went down easy and I really savored each sip. They carry it at underground bluz here in orlando, fl.

From the bottle, this looks like the brown the name suggests, except when held to the light when itís actually a radiant red. Nice head with an almost marshmellowy texture. The aroma hints at the sweet bite of a Granny smith apple, and the same flavor flourishes on the palatte. Quite delicious.
