Appearance: Poured from the bottle a dark brown color with a slight tan head and minimal lacing.
Flavor: This beer was one dimensional, all malt...not much else.
Palate: Average mouthfeel to this beer, nothing special.
Overall: Not one of my favorite beers or one I would try again. While it wasn't bad tasting, it was a little on the bland side, with the exception of the malt. MikeF (528), Cleveland, Ohio, USA

The flavor is not as rich as the aroma, but for a brown ale, not too bad. Overall appropriate light crisp malt flavor with more prominent notes of caramel, malt and faintly fruit finishing slightly bitter, wet but refreshing. Take it for what it is. It beats most American browns... Ringo (959), Loveland, Colorado, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Sep 14, 2007 Pours dark copper with good lacing and a quickly dissipating cream colored head. Smells of caramel and brown sugar. Tastes of a mix of medium and dark malts, very smooth but a little thick. No aftertaste which is surprising because the beer is rather full bodied. A fine brown ale on par with the best that i’ve had to date. (If anyone can tell me what the fuck is on the label i’d appreciate it. It looks to me like a birds head with the body of a man with a pot as a headress, eating a woman with birds flying out of her anus while sitting in a chair with it’s feet in some sort of decanting containers...oh and whatever is jutting out between its legs. Pours an amber body… and a full tan head. The aroma and flavor on first notice bring hints of green apple, toffee, woodsy hops, green grapes with the skins, a hint of walnut… and a strange light skunkyness in the finish…. reminds me of New Castle Brown with a doughy yeasty twist… Not so impressed…. And La Trappe’s beers were once so Impressive....

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 13, 2007 Pours a clear copper brown, topped by a good inch of creamy tan foam. Pretty good head retention and lacing. Sweetish malt, somewhat maple-like, in the aroma.
Very sweet beer, quite fruity. A chocolate malt that reminds me of a cheap waxy chocolate bar. A hint of roasted malt for some balance. Unfortunately not enough balance. Medium body, light carbonation. Too sweet for me
