bartlebier (2420) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - MAY 3, 2015
Pours@Tilquin British BF, TdG 2015. Artisanal, on-site fresh mix of baby lambic and fragrant beetroot candi sugar Cassonade Graeffe, which gives the weak, lactic, whey-like acidity a lot of meat and texture to fill the mouth like a sweet Arizona ice tea lemonade with a classy necktie. Good amounts of lemon peel underneath, an earthy funk working in tasty accord with the just as earthy caramels. Not overly sweet or sticky, while adhesive. Hits all the buttons of taste and medium complexity a sessionable bluecollar faro is supposed to deliver and this one did so with gusto. Please bag this in 10L box format so I can make it my summertime house ice tea?

Draft @ beer temple. Golden pour. Aroma of horseblanket, creamy grain and candi. Tardy taste of barnyard, grain and old hop. With candi sugar, but nicely balanced and not overly sweet. Nice beer, especially for this style.

Borefts VI. Cask! Hazy amber beer, no head. Palate is light and semi dry. very modest carbonation. Semi sweet malts. All the gueuze flavours are here but sweet. No balancing tartness. A miss for me.

True artisanal faro as there were hundreds in the 19th century. This one is based on meerts (the stage which precedes actual young lambic). Brownish amber colour, no head as is custom for the style. Aroma of hay, residual sugars, candi sugar, lemon peel, tea, sweat, barnyard. Very light and refreshing in the mouth, no carbonation, soft lactic acidity tempered by sweet candi sugar, wheaty, spicy hints, fresh sourish finish in which the candi taste also lingers a bit. Very authentic and very refreshing, I could drink this all day.

markschiedon (320) - NETHERLANDS - OCT 19, 2014
Drinking from tab at Borefts festival 2014. A fruity aroma with some vinegar and caramel. The clear, dark orange beer has a small white to no head. In the taste is the sweet and sour nicely balanced. Low carbonated.
