COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oude Gueuze is an appellation controlee : its label is protected. It is also known as the champagne of beers, especially as it is only available as a limited edition. Timmermans Oude Gueuze’s special flavour derives from its time-honoured method of preparation. It is a blend of old lambic, which has been aged for three years in wooden barrels, and young lambic which ensures spontaneous fermentation in the bottle. The different lambics are carefully selected by the brewer to obtain a perfect flavour. After it has been produced, Timmermans Oude Gueuze, which is refermented for four months in the bottle, continues to improve for 20 years.

Une oude gueuze assez classique avec un nez agréable mais peu complexe et une bouche équilibrée mais qui manque un peu de vitalité, agréable sans plus.

BOTTLE 37,5CL. The sourness is quite insane, clean lactic, no vinegar, some green stonefruit, fruit pits. Not much funky barnyard notes, it is pretty „clean”. The aroma has faint notes of sweet dried fruit or rose buds, but the taste is pretty straightforwardly sour. Bone dry and crisp, but perhaps too „clean” lactic.

from the world’s oldest lambic brewery you would indeed expect the true reference: a genuine OUDE GUEUZE as brewed centuries ago. a true discovery!

375 ML bottle Hazy straw color, floaties in the pour. Thin white collar. No lacing. Nose is straw, barnyard, vinegar, sweat, salt, and some blue cheese. Fun nose. Taste is full of acid, funk, vinegar, oak, wine, and straw. Lots of pucker action in this. Good carbonation. Lighter medium bodied with a long lasting taste. Fun beer with lots of pucker action

Sample tasted at Casanova Liquors. Pours light golden with minimal head. Smell is funk with vinegar and apples. Taste follows with dry finish. Great stuff.

Sampled at an ESBLS. A white golden beer. Softer malts and fruit in the aroma. Some funk is tasted with apples and lemon. Nice.

75cl bottle bb2031. Murky golden pour. Immediate lemon and green apple sulphurs, some funk in aroma. Taste is on the rougher side of 3F with less dryness: lemon juice, massive green apple with its peel, sulphurous finish. Missing some complexity and fresh sparkle here, but curious to see what happens to the aging bottles.

From a bottle. Not my usual style but, wow, what a flavour punch. This grew on me and I will definitely have it again. Tastes like a sour warhead.

from Apothibières - lightly hazy blond beer with no foam; aroma of cellar, old apples and vinegar; subtle carbonation and a solid sourness; medium-bodied, dry and long very sourish aftertaste of cider, dust and horse blankets - nice one
