Oude Gueuze is an appellation controlee : its label is protected. It is also known as the champagne of beers, especially as it is only available as a limited edition. Timmermans Oude Gueuze’s special flavour derives from its time-honoured method of preparation. It is a blend of old lambic, which has been aged for three years in wooden barrels, and young lambic which ensures spontaneous fermentation in the bottle. The different lambics are carefully selected by the brewer to obtain a perfect flavour. After it has been produced, Timmermans Oude Gueuze, which is refermented for four months in the bottle, continues to improve for 20 years.

Golden-orange coloured beer with a fast diminishing white head. Mild acidic aroma. Good acidic flavour, not very complex and a little bit watery. (Corked Bottle 37,5cl)

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks zvikar. Hazy blond with white film. Fruity, dry, vinous aroma, some berries and fruit yogurt. Very sour, tannin in the mouth. Full body, sour finish and dry.

Medium offwhite head. Hazy yellow body. Very little aroma. Sweetish-acidic lemony funky taste with waxy notes. Mid-bodied. Sharpish, faintly astringent mouthfeel. Dry-acidic lemony mealy aftertaste with metallic notes. Not bad, but boring. (0.75l bottle at Heeren van Liedekercke, Belgium.)

At a tasting, many thanks zvikar, small quickly dissapearing head, cloudy lemon yellow colour, funky apple aroma with Dijon mustard, flavour of lemon and green plums, quite strong but mellow sourness. Uncomplicated and great fun to drink.

0,375 cl bottle Appearance: clear golden with a medium white head , leaving a light amount of lacing. Aroma: Cheese, Funk, wet hay, and some lemon Taste: Starts tart Citric, then some bread and yeast, the finishes is quite dry and very mild tart with very nice light tanine notes, balancing out the tartness. Ligh body(but not thin),slightly above average carbonaion but working for the style. Good refreshing Geuze.

Pours a clear golden with a medium white head that dissipates quite fast but leave good lacing. Nose is of cheesy funk, wet hay, lemon and a little earth. Taste is more tart than the average gueuze but not too much, it is incredibly refreshing. Flavors of lemon, oak and some light wheat. Body is light, carbonation medium-high and mouthfeel just a tiny bit watery. Overall a really good gueuze, mighty refreshing!

Bottled at De Heeren. Sour, yet fairly fruity aroma and flavour. Clean and crisp.

Bottle: The aroma consists of musty and funky lemon, citrus, and a touch of wood. It pours a slightly hazy dull golden-orange with a two finger fizzy white head that quickly fades to a thin film outlined by a soapy ring. The flavor starts with a quick dose of citrus. The finish has moderate-heavy sour lemon, some faint cork, and wood. It’s light bodied with lively (bordering on prickly) carbonation. Overall, I dig it, but the carbonation could be toned down.
