COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oude Gueuze is an appellation controlee : its label is protected. It is also known as the champagne of beers, especially as it is only available as a limited edition. Timmermans Oude Gueuze’s special flavour derives from its time-honoured method of preparation. It is a blend of old lambic, which has been aged for three years in wooden barrels, and young lambic which ensures spontaneous fermentation in the bottle. The different lambics are carefully selected by the brewer to obtain a perfect flavour. After it has been produced, Timmermans Oude Gueuze, which is refermented for four months in the bottle, continues to improve for 20 years.

Poured a hazy medium light amber with a round white head. The aroma is big yeast, grapefruit citrus sour. The flavour is medium to strong sour with a cringingly sour citrus palate. Light bodied with average carbonation. Very drinkable in small quantities but it’s very sour!

Bottle, pours hazy orange with a bit of foam. Very refreshing aroma, smells fermenting. Cider-like. Taste explodes in your mouth with sourness. Lemon, acidic lemon - that dries your mouth completely. Never had anything like this before, it’s a real experience. Would not go without food very well - this acid needs something for melting down.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Slightly hazy gold with a perfect lasting head. Big sour smell with some funk in the aroma. Acidic bite that slightly stings then strong tart almost crab apple like. Light syrup residue. As it warms a light dough banana finish starts coming out.
