COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oude Gueuze is an appellation controlee : its label is protected. It is also known as the champagne of beers, especially as it is only available as a limited edition. Timmermans Oude Gueuze’s special flavour derives from its time-honoured method of preparation. It is a blend of old lambic, which has been aged for three years in wooden barrels, and young lambic which ensures spontaneous fermentation in the bottle. The different lambics are carefully selected by the brewer to obtain a perfect flavour. After it has been produced, Timmermans Oude Gueuze, which is refermented for four months in the bottle, continues to improve for 20 years.

Bottle, brewed 2010, bottled in 2013. A beautiful hazy dark-yellow (like dessert wine) colour with a thin white head. Lot’s of small bubbles like champagne. Aroma has crisp apples, oak, hay, barnyard, earthy, dry leaves. Of flavours include: lemon, acid, wood, light wheat, earth, hay, barnyard, light sweetness. Overall it’s a decent, quite sour, Gueuze that is cheap and good enough to have once in a while, but it lacks some final touches and complexity that you would find in better Lambic beer to become anything noteworthy.

Bottle. Pours light hazy dark yellow, with a small creamy head. Aroma is acidic, with hay, light wood and citrusy notes. Medium body, with average carbonation. Flavour is acidic, with lemon, rhubarb, and light berries and lemon, as well as funky farmyard notes. Lingering tart finish.

Fles brewed 2012, bottled 2015.
