COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oude Gueuze is an appellation controlee : its label is protected. It is also known as the champagne of beers, especially as it is only available as a limited edition. Timmermans Oude Gueuze’s special flavour derives from its time-honoured method of preparation. It is a blend of old lambic, which has been aged for three years in wooden barrels, and young lambic which ensures spontaneous fermentation in the bottle. The different lambics are carefully selected by the brewer to obtain a perfect flavour. After it has been produced, Timmermans Oude Gueuze, which is refermented for four months in the bottle, continues to improve for 20 years.

Bottle as shown. Pours a hazey yellow with large frothy white head that lasts awhile. The aroma is citrus and tons of funk. Thin mouthfeel with a crisp tartness and lemon with nice sourness in the finish. Easy to drink lots of carbonation, a very impressive gueuze from Timmermans.

Fles brewed 2012, bottled 2015.

Slightly hazy pumpkin color, unstable fizzy white head. Big time soured fruit aroma, cherry, lemon and some tropical. Much hay and barnyard. One of the most sour beers I’ve tasted and it hits fast and hard. Lots of lemon and white grape....a lingering pucker to this guy. Fun but a bit overwhelming.

Bottle from Brussels. Sweet ginger ale, celery, and sour cherries aroma, with a little vinegar and lemon. Hazy dark gold under a thin, white collar. Very sour, lemon juice and white grape flavour, with pickle juice and faint butterscotch oak. Light body, very mouth puckering, moderate carbonation. Too sour.

Lett tåkete lys brun med lavt hvitt skum som fort blir borte. Lukter trevirke og Eplecidereddik. Den river godt. Sur og syrlig så det holder, epler og rips. Snerpete. Middels lang. Godt med lambic, men ikke ei magnumflaske....

Bottle, 37,5cl, Den Herberg. Pours yellow / dark yellow. Nearly no head retention. Citric nose, lots of lip smacking acidity up front, lactic and citric acid. Lemon tarts, "smoelentrekkers"... A bit one dimensional.
