Oude Gueuze is an appellation controlee : its label is protected. It is also known as the champagne of beers, especially as it is only available as a limited edition. Timmermans Oude Gueuze’s special flavour derives from its time-honoured method of preparation. It is a blend of old lambic, which has been aged for three years in wooden barrels, and young lambic which ensures spontaneous fermentation in the bottle. The different lambics are carefully selected by the brewer to obtain a perfect flavour. After it has been produced, Timmermans Oude Gueuze, which is refermented for four months in the bottle, continues to improve for 20 years.

Bottle as shown. Pours a hazey yellow with large frothy white head that lasts awhile. The aroma is citrus and tons of funk. Thin mouthfeel with a crisp tartness and lemon with nice sourness in the finish. Easy to drink lots of carbonation, a very impressive gueuze from Timmermans.

Good pick for a first geuze. Sour first impression. Long aftertaste. Looks like champagne when poured in a stemmed glass.

Bottle of 75 cl. Nice cider yellow color, hard palate and citric, apple taste. We’re in front of one of the greatest "Oude Gueuze" with the Cantillon and Boon ones.

Bona cervesa, tocs àcids clarament marcats tant en aroma com en gust, però en gust té un puntet cítric. Buena cerveza, tonos ácidos claramente marcados tanto en aroma como en sabor, pero en sabor tiene un puntito cítrico.

Looks.. Orange straw.. Little head. Smells.. Citric, green apples, farmyard. Tastes.. Acidic green apples and citrus spike, sour is dulled by the wet oak notes.

From 37.5 cl bottle in tulip glass. Pour is a hazy orange with a quickly disappearing head. Nose is citrus with a lot of green apples. Very sour. A bit of funk. White grapes. Taste is very funky. Almost like cider. White wine and oak barrel notes. Punchy sourness. High carbonation. Very good gueuze for a low price!

75cl caged and corked bottle pours up with a clear deep gold body that supports a thin white head. The aroma is nice and offers up farmhouse kind of funky flowery meadow, a spicy woody sort of note and then citrusy acidic lime to lemon tartness. The taste is pulsing with nearly abrasive acidic tartness and tart candy notes that have a citrus edge to it. There’s a funkiness going on well off into the background that is just too mild to gain anything against the acidic tartness that rules this experience. This is a solid refreshing puckering brew but a bit over the top for my taste.

Sour smell. Lactic sour taste with a bit of wood character to it. Overall a pretty tasty sour.
