COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The flavour of Timmermans Oude Kriek, refermented in the bottle, is without comparison. The cherries from which it derives its taste and colour it features traditionally come from Schaerbeek. Slightly acidic and with a wonderful bouquet, this natural and hence unpredictable brew requires careful handling throughout its long maturation period. Created from a blend of old and young lambic, Timmermans Oude Kriek keeps for 12 years. Like Timmermans Oude Gueuze, this is a precious drink, available in a limited edition only !

Bottle from BeerMerchants; hazy ribena red pour with a quickly disappearing pink head, aroma has tart cherry and almond, tart sour cherries in the taste, real lip puckering sourness, some nutty almonds, a hint of marzipan.

Bottle. Pours red with light red/pink head that disappears in cocacola style. In aroma tart cherries, almonds, citric notes, no barn aromas. In taste cherry flavour followed by strong acidic finish. Low bodied, strong and fizzy carbonated. Really good Oude Kriek.

Bottle at home. Deep dark red with small short lasting grey/pink head. Sour red berries and elderberries. Old wood, a bit musty, moldy bread. Quite earthy, lots of berry pits, old raspberries. Quite acidic. Low carbonation. Not bad at all, very fruity, but a bit too moldy for me.

superspak (3215) - Michigan, USA - APR 20, 2015
750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 4/24/2013. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep ruby red color with a 1-2 finger foamy light pink head with solid retention, that reduces to a spotty lace cap that lingers. Minimal lacing on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big sour black cherry, lemon zest, green apple, raisin, plum, white vinegar, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, toasted oak, leather, pepper, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cherries, and oak barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big sour black cherry, lemon zest, green apple, raisin, plum, white vinegar, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, toasted oak, pepper, and yeast/oak earthiness. Large amount of fruity/acidic sourness and moderate spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of sour black cherry, lemon, green apple, raisin, plum, white vinegar, hay, straw, grass, musty funk, toasted oak, pepper, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cherries, and oak barrel flavors; with a good crisp malt/acidity balance and minimal cloying flavors after the finish. High carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and acidic mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice sour kriek lambic. All around good complexity and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cherries, and oak barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on with the high level of acidity thanks to high carbonation, but does get slightly cloying at times. A very enjoyable offering overall.

UPDATED: MAY 15, 2015 Many thanks to the cherries. They make the oude gueuze at least drinkable. Will all this lactic acid drill the lavatories?

Pour is a dark purplish red with tons of fluffy pink head. Nose is decent, lots of cherry, some brett presence, a bit of band-aide. Taste is a bit sweeter, still has a band-aide note, lots of cherry and sugar, overly sweet, faint brett. Highly carbonated, fairly sour, lighter body, faintly syrupy.
