COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The flavour of Timmermans Oude Kriek, refermented in the bottle, is without comparison. The cherries from which it derives its taste and colour it features traditionally come from Schaerbeek. Slightly acidic and with a wonderful bouquet, this natural and hence unpredictable brew requires careful handling throughout its long maturation period. Created from a blend of old and young lambic, Timmermans Oude Kriek keeps for 12 years. Like Timmermans Oude Gueuze, this is a precious drink, available in a limited edition only !

Bottle at home (2013). Pour a reddish pink with a fast disappearing pink head. Light sweet. very sour aroma of cherries, wood, vinegar. Taste is sour, hint of sweetness, cherries, wood, vinegar. Dry, sour finish, long fruity sour aftertaste. Nice, love to see what this does after some ageing.

Belle couleur rougeatre avec un mince filement résistant. Aromes de fruits rouges comme les cerises et les framboises, bois, notes boisés, lime, très acide. Très bonne!

Acidic almost vinegar like in the aftertaste. St first I thought the beer was sour, but then I realized this is how the beer was supposed to taste. While I like to lactic acid flavor I was not expecting it as much from this beer. Visually the bee was excellent. I will want to try this one again on another evening.

UPDATED: OCT 22, 2014 After the succesful launch of Timmermans Oude Gueuze, it came as no surprise that John Martin proceeded with an ’oude kriek’, equally limited in production. Thin and quickly dissolving, pale pinkish head, colour a ’dirty’ and brownish dark red. Complex fresh fruitiness, sour cherries, wine vinegar, wet hay, lemon juice, strawberry, plums, chalk, wood. Sharpish vinegary acidity in the onset, lots of fruit with a very strong presence of genuine sour cherries, soft wheaty background, very refreshing, complex woody and sherryish finish, mellow with a somewhat subdued lambic funkiness, spicy dry tart finish with a slight sweetish hint in the finish, along with woodiness but low bitterness. Rather accessible oude kriek I would argue, but true to its style with enough complexity to stand up against the greats, but without actually equalling them.

0.375l corked bottle shared with The Tasting Crew from 2013. This one pours a quite cloudy but good looking reddish purple colored body with a quickly fizzing away pinkish eventually sidesticking head. Mmmmm.. Nice, no really nice aroma. Lots of sharp cherries with a woody slightly acidic tart background. Mild hints of red wine vinegar and sorrel. Yeah, really nice. Tastes really good also. Really fresh and refreshing flavors. Lots of wood here, slightly earthy in a way and it has a really fruity sour cherry theme all the way. Mild oily in the mouth and just above average on the carbonation. Definitely refreshing. Cherries and a little almond essens in the back. The taste is not letting go easily in the mouth. Acidic almost vinegar like in the aftertaste. Quite a flavorful one this! 08.10.2014
