The flavour of Timmermans Oude Kriek, refermented in the bottle, is without comparison. The cherries from which it derives its taste and colour it features traditionally come from Schaerbeek. Slightly acidic and with a wonderful bouquet, this natural and hence unpredictable brew requires careful handling throughout its long maturation period. Created from a blend of old and young lambic, Timmermans Oude Kriek keeps for 12 years. Like Timmermans Oude Gueuze, this is a precious drink, available in a limited edition only !

750 ml bottle. Pretty clear, bright red body with a rather fast diapering, foamy off-white head. Quite strong in aroma with cherries, almond, some wood and slightly funky acidic berries. Flavor is acidic sour, berries, cherry, some malt, light wood and some funk. Medium to light body with a lemon type sour aftertaste. Refreshing, authentic and really sour, nice but might miss some body to balance the sourness. The funkiness is surprisingly light.

Pours deep ruby into a tumbler. Pink head with medium retention recedes to nothing. Sour cherry and oak aromas. Sharp with sweet cherry upfront turning dry and acidic in the medium length oak finish. Yummy.

Bottle at home, from Beermerchants.com, 06/04/14. Murky chery red with thin crimson bubbles that veer edgeward. Nose is light smoke, cherry skin, musty, dank cherry dipped straw, tarte red berry jamboree. Taste comprises tarte cherry, light smoke, moderate acidity, hint of dry rot, dank hay, cherry skins. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close. Solid fruit lambic, a huge step up from their base kriek!

At the Big Texas Beer Fest on 4/5/2014. Draft pours dark cherry rose red. Aroma is huge nice acidic sour with some cherries coming through. Taste is a nice big, mouth puckering pungent sour, heavy acidity. some sweet complexity. One of the best I have had from Timmermans, even though it is a little of the sweet side and a little on the acidic side. maybe I need to take another look at these guys, if for no other reason than to get some more Belgium sour ticks (=

Shared a 75cl bottle from Cora (Luxembourg). Pours a deep dark pink colour with a thin pink head. Aroma is cherries, grassy and spicy. Average frizzy carbonation and medium body. Taste is very dry, medium bitter and astringent. A dry and sour finish asking for more. Overall, a strangely bitter beer when sweetness was expected. Surprisingly good.

Bottle shared with streets and Annie at taproom 307. Pours a bright, hazy pinkish red with pinkish lacing. Aroma is cherry pie, sour fruit and indoor swimming pool. Mouthfeel is dry and mouth puckeringly sour; notes of sour cherries, grain, strawberries and earthy leather character.

750ml bottle from Hipercor, Oviedo. @Cimmeria. Shared with Chela.01-03-2014.
In short: a tart sugary beer.
Pours hazy reddish with some pinkish head. Short head retention, some lacework. Caramel, tart, fruity aromas. Light body, high carbonation, crispy texture. Taste is quite tart, dry, astringent, some caramel and fruity notes, not exactly kriek ones. Not so balanced, but enjoyable anyway.
