The flavour of Timmermans Oude Kriek, refermented in the bottle, is without comparison. The cherries from which it derives its taste and colour it features traditionally come from Schaerbeek. Slightly acidic and with a wonderful bouquet, this natural and hence unpredictable brew requires careful handling throughout its long maturation period. Created from a blend of old and young lambic, Timmermans Oude Kriek keeps for 12 years. Like Timmermans Oude Gueuze, this is a precious drink, available in a limited edition only !

Bottle - 750mL corked and caged. Ruby red with a short, fizzy pink head. Very funky sour cherries, yeast, horse blanket, lemon juice and wet wood. Taste is strong sour cherries, lemon juice, funky yeast wet wood, earthy notes and tart berries. Body is medium with moderate, prickly carbonation. Acidic through the body and dry during the finish. Ends with more sour cherries, tart berries, lemon juice, wet wood, sweat and funky yeast notes. Yummy!

Pour is a dark purplish red with tons of fluffy pink head. Nose is decent, lots of cherry, some brett presence, a bit of band-aide. Taste is a bit sweeter, still has a band-aide note, lots of cherry and sugar, overly sweet, faint brett. Highly carbonated, fairly sour, lighter body, faintly syrupy.

Geur is balsamico. Erg aangename oude kriek.

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2015 Drinking a Limited Edition bottle 0.375 l. Pours with pink red head that dissipates rather quickly. Beautiful red opaque beer with nice aroma. This type of beer is not for me.
