3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml bottle. Pours a clear amber, with a small, rapidly fading head. The aroma is an inviting mix of sweet malt characteristics, mainly toffee and caramel. There are some pepper and citrus hops to begin, with burnt caramel in the middle and a finish that blends caramel and pine. A quality bitter, and a satisfying ale.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours clear orangeish amber with a dense, lasting off-white head that leaves plenty of lacing. Aroma is spicy and quite herbal with notes of biscuity malt, caramel, grass, mint and ginger. Flavour also has a strong hop profile but also has a solid malt backbone; the herbal, grassy elements are strong on the front palate and are followed up by equally strong malt notes of toffee, biscuit and butterscotch. Medium to light bodied with fairly high carbonation and a long bitter finish. This is a very good, and very different, English bitter. Much hoppier than most examples of this style but excellently balanced and highly sessionable.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
500 ml bottle from my good friend Tom, brought back from Jolly Ole - pours an attractive clear caramel colour with an thinnish off-white head. Incredibly enticing aroma, woodsy, fresh, slightly lemony, a touch of toffee. Flavour a half-notch down, but still very nice - more caramel forward, twiggy, herbal hops round it out, and lend a mild bitterness to the finish. A really beautiful beer, will have to track this down on cask next time I’m in England. Thanks Tom!

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours with a clear nut brown-amber body and a average foamy off white head. Avery subtle aroma of bread, brown sugar, golden syrup-slighly herbal. Taste of caramel with a spritzy desert apple acidity and a moderate bitter finish. Medium bodied. Pleasant.
