4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Cask quite a few times now. Latest last night. Mmmm. Yep. This is a fine ael. I’ve not always had it in best condition, but when it is it is a blinder. Plays nicely. It shoots and it scores. OK. Citric head on a grainy base. Nice.

Fresh round malt aroma, with a bit more bitter hop bite than some of the others I have tried in this style. Quite nice.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask at The Mitre, Manchester. A clear amber colour with a medium white head. Aroma of caramel, some toasted malts, slight biscuit and subtle earthy hops. Taste of toasted malts, some biscuit, slight caramel, a little yeast and subtle earthy hops. Light bodied and soft carbonation. A dryish, toasted malt bitterness in the finish. A basic, safe bitter. Nothing wrong with it, just better beers out there.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask @ The Three Fishes, Shrewsbury. Pours clear amber. Aroma is light, bready. Taste is perfectly fine, slightly bready, creamy. Inoffensive cask ale that doesn’t quite hit the high notes by modern standards.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Cask in Blur Pig, Grantham. Golden, hazy with a thin white head. Slightly off aroma, taste is pleasant, fairly standard bitter, but nothing special. Might be past its best? One to try again...
