Handpulled cask at the Fleece Inn, Haworth, West Yorkshire. Brown/black with a tan head. Basically Landlord with caramel. Very drincable and well balanced but rarley found in really fresh (high turnover) condition of its sister brews.

Draught various locations over the years. Very deep ruby/brown colour with an excellent tan head that lasts. Sweet malt and fruit aroma with a hint of fuggles hops. Rich chocolate and molasses on the tongue without being over sweet. Satisfyingly rich palate without being cloying. The only quibble is that it’s a bit of a low ABV for an Old Ale but it’s a lovely autumnal pint all the same.

Half pint. Filmy, beige head resting on a ruby-black body. Dark fruity nose. Flavour brings late orange notes mixed with malts and a moderate bitter tail. Suppable (well-kept cask at Bricklayers Arms, Putney, London 18.03.2008)

Lovely dark ruby beer. Sweet, malty brew. A little somoke or tar, especially in the finish, but not too impressive, really.
