Clear, Very dark brown amber body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Sweet oatmeal and toasted malt grain flavour with peat-like earthy undertones. Medium-full body. Simple but good.
KnN (214), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA Mar 21, 2008 First thing I thought of when I smelled this was burnt popcorn. Kind of an odd off flavor. Non-existent head. Little ma;ty, but mostly just smooth and a little flavorless. Kind of underwhelming. hotstuff (3018), Indiana, USA Mar 1, 2008 Bottle. Small tan head that mostly diminished, splotchy amount of lacing, carbonation noted, transparent, and a reddish brown hue. The nose was malty, coffee and roasty. Ditto for the flavor. Smooth mouthfeel and medium body. Eh, just a so-so beer IMO. Nothing special, mild flavor and just nothing that set the world on fire for me. jerc (3052), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 26, 2008 2008-02-23. Bottle. Dark brown body with a small creamy tan head that fades. Muted aroma, sweet malt, hints of caramel and dusty grain warehouse, very mild roast malt and brief touches of scorched caramel sweetnes. Similarly sweet malty flavour, sweet caramel and dark sugars. Very mild hints of earthy malt - briefly. Touches of cocoa or mocha in the background, roast malt rushes to join the party but doesn’t quite make it in time. Slightly fuller than average palate. Much better than expected. Its a touch too mild, and fairly simple overall but it is decidedly drinkable if you like the sweeter side of things. Underrated, but not by much. (3+) Bottle from Kensington Wine Market, Calgary. Shared with Mabel. thedm (3405), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Feb 1, 2008 This bottled brew from JSquire at a rating party poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were and left behind a transparent uncarbonated dark ruby red brown colored body. The weak aroma was malty brown malt and sweet. The thin mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. An OK brew just nothing special.
