Powertrip (69), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Mar 3, 2008 Dominant espresso hits the nose. I thought I was drinking a Cherry Chocolate? Oh wait, there it is, hidden beneath the coffee. All this wrapped in a leather blanket. Dark, dark, black. Typical porter look. The mouth finally opens up the cherry. Extremely ripe ones at that. A trace of straight rye whiskey even creaks out. Out of place indeed, but there none the less.
Ughsmash (3070), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Sep 26, 2008 Bomber, thanks to Mark! Poured translucent medium brown with just about zero head sticking around. The aroma was definitely more porter than cherries, with moderately roasted barley and semi-sweet chocolates.. bit of tannins and faint cherry jam in there on the back.. came across as having cheaper ingredients or not enough chocolate and too much other black malt or something. The flavor opened with a little tart cherry and some woody notes.. OK transition to a roasted black malt middle.. dusting of cherries and the promised Belgian chocolate at the short, drier finish. Medium-bodied, but it tailed off toward the back.. finished weak.. nothing offensive or blatently wrong per se, but not too good overall. joss (3134), Garching b. München, Germany Jul 6, 2008 Bottle. Mon cherie nose, roast, a bit of cherry jam as well. Very dark brown, no head. Medium to light body, creamy mouthfeel. Light chocolate roast with cherries retronsal, fairly restrained though. pleasant enough, but not that interesting _Griphin_99 (2), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada does not count Jun 16, 2008 One of my favorite Porters, it’s too bad you can’t get it on tap in Victoria, BC Canada. Best chilled!!! Dubbercody (171), Vancouver, Washington, USA May 26, 2008 22 oz bottle.
It’s somewhat thin and interestingly carbonated. Smells of chocolate and cherries.
Nice Cherry flavor comes through mixing nicely with the Chocolate.
Bitter Sweet finish on the Palate. Tipsy_McStager (818), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Apr 21, 2008 Aroma of chocolate and a slight tart cherry aroma, as advertised. Pours a dark brown/black with thin disipating head. Alot of carbonation. Mild chocolate flavour, coffee. Half decent palate. Not too bad.
